This is the 5th LR Baggs M1 Acoustic Pickup I have installed on my acoustic guitars. These are the only ones I will ever use. The ease of installation and the sound quality is unsurpassed. I prefer the passive M1 pickup over an active pickup because changing the batteries can be tedious on some of these permanently installed sound hole pickups. The build quality is excellent, and as I stated, I have 5 of these on 5 high end acoustic guitars, 3 Martins, a Guild and a Taylor. The pickup does slightly color the sound of an amplified acoustic but some tweaks to the amp, PA or mixer fixes that issue. Now, if I may suggest: The pickup comes with the strap jack so no need to order one separately. The description does not say it comes with one, but they all do. So save the extra $25 if you were not sure it was supplied or optional. Next, before you install, get a 1/2" step drill bit which is less than $20 at a hardware store or get one from Amazon. You WILL need it and trust me, DON'T use a standard 1/2" drill bit unless you want to chip or crack the wood where your old strap pin is. That is where you want to drill the hole, and if you use a standard drill bit, trust me on this...( yes you probably know what I did once) ...you WILL at the very least chip the finish. I repeat, use a 1/2" STEP DRILL BIT. If you do that you will have a professional level installation. Finally, don't torque the mounting screws down so hard you dent the guitar top. They only need to be snug, not indented into the top. And you will be happy with this pickup. It works and sounds great. In all the years I used them, and in all the guitars I installed them on, other than my own dumb mistake the first time using a standard 1/2" drill bit, I never had a single issue or anything go wrong with this pickup.

This pickup is fantastic. Its super clear sounding and fits perfectly in my guitar. My one issue is that it gives a ton of low end which can cause feedback in some venues. If you buy this be sure to use some sort of EQ with it. Either a pedal or rack mounted EQ system works. You can also adjust the volume of each pin with the allen key but i find EQ makes it sound much better. Not having to use a battery is nice too.It is a bit pricey but for the quality you get its absolutely worth the money and I will definetly order another one or my next acoustic.

I don't understand how people don't like this, it's an amazing pickup, sounds beautiful. If you need the exact replica of the acoustic sound of the guitar, buy a condenser microphone.

I chose the passive M1 for simplicity sake. I installed it in the sound hole and tried it with the wire hanging out first. I played it into a small amplifier that handled all of the tone controls and volume since none of that comes with the pickup. After I knew I liked it, I took it to my local music store and had someone who knows what they are doing permanently install it with a jack in the tail block. I am very satisfied with the sound. It takes my small Martin 0015 and brings the volume up where it can be heard among fiddle and banjo. There's no real permanent change to the guitar. Since it was my first electronic pickup on an acoustic guitar I was impressed. The guys at the music store were also impressed, and they have a good deal more experience than I do with this sort of thing.

This is an excellent pickup. I debated getting the passive versus the active pickup, and chose the M1. Sound is phenomenal and it really rings out. Installing it was not a big deal, I didn't have a step drill so I used different bits to enlarge the hole gradually. I like that there is no cord hanging from my guitar

I’ve been using my Seymour Duncan humbucker for a while but I wanted something permanently installed, unfortunately the sound quality it not to my liking. The LR pickup sounds too sharp, I like the warmer tone of the Duncan. I plan on permanently mounting the Duncan pickup.

I bought this pickup and put it on an old epiphone acoustic guitar that I like to play. The sound this pickup puts out is very well balanced--now I plug my guitar in, even just to practice at home! I run it through a fender acoustic amp and the tone is great. When I run it through a PA system, I use a DI box as well and the sound is awesome. I'm super pleased with this pickup!

This is an awesome pickup. It is passive (so you'll need a little more volume on the amp) but I love the more natural sound compared to the built in pickups. It does an excellent job reproducing the sound of my guitar. One thing though, you might want to add a little cork just around the where the plastic meets your guitar top. Otherwise, you might end up with dents in your wood if you over tighten the pickup. I guess this impacts the reverb back to the pickup from vibrations, but that's okay with me.

Zuallererst: man darf natürlich von einem Pickup nicht erwarten, dass er wie ein hochwertiges Studiomikrofon klingt. Hat man das verinnerlicht und ist dennoch den Klang eines (billigen) Piezotonabnehmers leid, hat man mit dem M1 von L.R. Baggs ein kleines Klangerlebnis.Den M1 verwende ich in Kombination mit der an einem .Diese Kombination ist zugegebenermaßen nicht mehr wirklich günstig, klingt dafür aber auch nicht billig; Im Gegenteil.Aktuell ist der M1 an einer zwölfsaitigen Ibanez installiert. Ein Loch habe ich in diese Gitarre noch nicht gebohrt. Da sie nicht allzu oft und nur bei bestimmten Stücken eingesetzt wird, behalte ich mir vor, den M1 noch mal in einer anderen Gitarre ohne Tonabnehmersystem einzubauen.Allerdings wäre dies nicht das erste Loch, dass ich in eine Zarge bohren würde, wenn. Mit dem richtigen Werkzeug ist dies ein Kinderspiel und Sache von maximal zwei Minuten.Womit wir beim Einbau wären:der gestaltet sich mehr als einfach. Der minimale Schalllochdurchmesser darf übrigens nicht weniger als 90mm betragen.Zur Installation ohne Bohren eines Lochs in die Zarge benötigt man einzig einen Kreuzschlitzschraubendreher.Die Schrauben an den Enden des Pickups gelockert, kann man den M1 direkt anbringen, ohne die Saiten lockern zu müssen.Jedenfalls war es bei mir so.ACHTUNG: zieht man die Schrauben sehr fest, drücken sich die Enden in das Holz der Gitarre. Man kann hier mit Filzplättchen oder ähnlichem Abhilfe schaffen, muss aber mit Beeinträchtigung des Klangvolumens rechnen.Wer sich einen Soundhole- Tonabnehmer zulegt, weiß allerdings, worauf er sich einlässt. Nicht ganz bis Anschlag geschraubt und alles ist gut und trotzdem fest. Hier kann man den M1 noch ein wenig zum Hals oder zum Steg platzieren, je nach Geschmack. Viel Veränderung konnte ich nicht feststellen. Wobei mir mein Gehör zu vermitteln versucht, dass die Positionierung am Hals eher wärmer zu sein scheint.Die sechs Inbusschrauben können mit dem mitgelieferten Inbusschlüssel nach Belieben verstellt werden, damit eventuell "klirrende", dominante Saiten durch heruntergedrehte Spulenkerne zurückgenommen werden.Bei einer meiner Klampfen klingt die H-Saite sehr dominant. Nach Anbringen des M1 fiel dies auf wunderliche Art und Weise überhaupt nicht mehr auf.Auf meiner Zwölfsaitigen habe ich noch nicht eine Rändelschraube an dem Tonabnehmer verstellt. Der Klang klingt beim Einstöpseln warm, kraftvoll, voluminös.Aber auch ein wenig leiser.Klar, ist ja passiv.Letzteres stellt eher einen Pluspunkt für mich dar. Wäre eine Batterie verbaut (es gibt ein Modell mit Knopfzelle und Volume-Regler: ), müsste man umständlich rumfriemeln, um diese auszutauschen, oder bestenfalls den Tonabnehmer aus- und wieder ein"bauen". Nicht sonderlich viel Arbeit, aber ein wenig nervig. Dieser hier bleibt verbaut.Aber warum nur 4 Sterne?Zugegeben, würde ich den M1 endgültig verbauen, würde ich für eine andere Gitarre auf ein aktives System upgraden. Einzig wegen der Lautstärke. Man fummelt mit dem Techniker oder selbst ein wenig rum, bis man alle Gitarren ungefähr auf gleiche Lautstärke hat.Okay, das ist hinnehmbar. Meistens.Nutze ich allerdings drei Gitarren mit drei verschiedenen Systemen, ist das M1-System das mit den meisten Einstellungsfummeleien.Der Klang ist dennoch wirklich überzeugend und wahrscheinlich für den Preis aktuell mit das Beste, was es in Form dieses Systems auf dem Markt gibt.Was mich zu dem Punkt Abzug bringt: out of the Box ist es noch nicht ganz perfekt. Mir persönlich fehlt noch ein Quentchen mehr Klang und Volumen (wohlgemerkt: pur, ohne D.I. Box/EQ).Aber, mal ganz ehrlich: wer spielt schon live out of the Box? ;-)

Great pick up with a good acoustic sound no batteries required

J'ai longtemps voulu l'acheter et c'est aujourd'hui chose faite ! Je trouve que la restitution du son est impeccable pour moi !Je l'utilise sur une guitare Yamaha APX500 (oui .... c'est une guitare électro-acoustique, et comme un vendeur d'instrument me l'a dit, "il voit pas l'intérêt d'avoir acheté ce micro" ....). En tout cas, entre le micro d'origine et celui-là je vois la différence : les percussions ressortent bien mieux, l'ensemble est harmonieux, le son ne ressort pas trop "électrifié", bref, le son est assez naturel pour moi, et bien plus que le micro piezzo d'origine que j'ai. Je pense qu'en couplant mes deux micros je pourrai même en faire ressortir un meilleur son, je ferai le test.Conclusion, c'est cher, certes, mais c'est un bon investissement pour ma part !

Va de lujo, suena genial. Mi acústica es pequeña y entró un poco justa en la boca. Ojo con eso. La instalación si la quieres dejar fija no es complicada, siendo un poco cuidadoso. Muy contento con el producto.
