I ordered this guitar to mod. I did do a quick setup on it stock and played it a bit. I really like the neck, its more of a speed neck, and not that of the usual strat. The finish is really nice, a translucent cherry red and you get to see the grain I like the head stock the stock turners work just fine. the bridge was flush with the body and the tremelo claw was screwed all the way down to the body so youll have to setup the bridge if you want it to float. I assume they set it up like that from the factory as its the less likely to effect tunning. The intonation was very close. I did try the trem, and it didnt want to settle back to in tune. I think its the strings/nut. the frets are pretty good right out of the box, no pokes or cuts. the fretboard was dead flat, and no rocking on any of the frets. so what else could you ask for right out of the box. Of course you're going to want to change the strings to whatever you prefer, but still playable out of the box I want to mod this thing!! there is something a little weird with this body/neck the first and biggest thing i see as soon as i took it apart. The pick guard was modified. right at the section where the neck and body join. About of quarter of an inch was removed uh 6mm ish? the neck is placed so far into the body that the last fret is touching the neck pickup. So if you want to swap pickguards you'll need to remove some material, and the one that came on the guitar was abviously modified by a small die grinder/dremel tool. If you want to use a plastic guard the you could probably do it with a drill and razor, maybe just a razor blade. In my case i chose an aluminum guard, so a little extra work. The neck was a little loose in the body but used a thin shim fixed that. The pickups in this thing are week, and i mean weeeeeeek. there are very little windings and the gage of wire is extra thin, resistance of 5K. Also each pickup has different pole spacing, so finding covers maybe a challege if you dont replace the pickupsIf you're looking for a ST style guitar to mod, it can be done, although it maybe a little more involved than you may want, or have the ability to. The body is routed HSH. In my case i replaced the single coils with 13k hotrails, becuase why not? All the rest of the electronics is the same thing everyone else is using, nothing wrong with it, and nothing special about it either. If you dont use the factory modified guard, you'll have to modify the replacement. Of course the frets could be rounded and polished if you want. the neck works just fine out of the box. I have the stuff to do what ever i want, so i'll round and polish the frets. I replaced the tuners with locking ones, cuz this neck say metal, so be doing some dive bombs. With the price i paid and all the upgrades that i WANT to do i'm still under $200. But I now have a custom so....... In all I like the guitar, and if you're looking for a guitar for a kid/beginner than you should know this neck has a lot to offer in its thinner "speed" style. They also offer this in a bundle with an amp and other goodies. Just know that if you, or if this is a gift, that if someone is planning on changing the guard, there is a little more than just swapping it, the is some modifications needed. You could however change out the week 5K pickups with whatever you like, 9K singles, hotrails, or even lipsticks. Although if you're buying this for a kid, then maybe having weaker pickups might be a good thing, wont be as loud. The guitar is also very light weight

Unless a purchaser obtains the "occasional clunker," the suggestion here is on receiving the item let the strings stretch out, even if a new set is immediately replaced for the stock strings. Once I let the strings stretch, all the uneasiness of a half-baked product dissipated. This instrument is a true value for those who "get" what good budget gear is about.- The neck is A BIT bowed, and thereby the action is not pristine. My suggestion, accustom yourself to the guitar as is. Give it a few months before considering an tweaks.- The woods throughout are very good, smooth and attractive.- My guitar has no significant fret issues of any sort.- The amplified tones are respectable, and the organic tones indicate a quality instrument.- All components are more than acceptable and were assembled on par with an excellent beginner instrument.... Thanks, Lyx, whoever you are!

I ordered one of these Strat knock-off guitars to have a cheap modular guitar I can change parts out on with relative ease. This is not my first guitar by any means so I basically knew what I was getting in terms of quality for $100. When I received the guitar the first thing I noticed is it survived the shipping process. When I picked it up out of the box I noticed how light it was, kinda scary light. This guitar is made out of paulownia wood, which I've never had before. This strat has to weigh ~2lbs less than my basswood Tele which is a physically smaller body than the Strat. Since this is not a high-end guitar for me I'm overlooking the weight difference. The electronics are good enough to get anyone though the day. Sure, you don't get CTS pots, Switchcraft selector and SD pups, but what you do get works without issues. I am going to get a bone nut made for this guitar since the plastic nut is absolute junk (wound strings stick). I bought a GraphTech nut for this guitar but when I installed it the nut was too short which caused fret buzz. I don't feel like shimming a 3mm channel so I'm going to get a bone nut installed to make it playable. Honestly the nut is the only thing that really needs replaced immediately, everything else is pretty decent. This is a good guitar for a beginner or someone that wants a modular canvas to work with.

So I purchased this for $89.99. Amazon deliverrd in a few days. Not much protection in the packaging. Was impressed with how the finish looked from the gloss finish on the natural wood. Pick-ups good no issues and respond well. I really love how the guitar looks. Some issues to expect... Every fret edge both sides needed to be filed to remove sharp edges... very difficult to get the strings out through the bridge holes... All of the tuning keys were loose... The action was way too high so the truss rod needed adjusting... Of course you will need to set intonation... If you want a nice project Guitar to add to your collection, I would recommend this guitar for the $$

Sounds great, nice guitar for beginners or parents wanting to buy a descent guitar for their kids. I've ordered several other guitars in the past in the same price range and I'm satisfied with this product. The color and finish are great, no issues. The typical first-time guitar setup had to be done such as adjusting the intonation, string height and making sure the neck was straight, etc. But that is a normal part of every guitar setup when you buy them. No surprises there. I recommend you change the strings immediately, the standard strings are not very good. Sounds great, no feedback issues, volume/tone pots work well, the string tuners are low quality but I will change them eventually. One thing to note is that you may need to have a little experience with setting up a guitar in general. The fret work was not that great at all on the guitar I received. I had to file down every single fret because the edges were very sharp and after 30 minutes of playing, it started slicing through my skin :o. Again, not a big issue for me considering the reasonable price and that's what I was expecting. I just spent a couple of hours filing/sanding them down and I'm good with the final results. All around good product for the price.

First, I know at this price point, expectations should be low. However, I would still expect something that you could make work. The Good: Price, obviously. Seems some reviewers get good guitars, so luck of the draw may favor you; I was not favored. The body and finish are a nice translucent red finish and the pickguard is good. The hardware seems fine, though only time will tell. This is where the good ends, in my opinion. The Bad: Doesn't stay in tune, pickups are weak and flubby and the action is high. These things can be fixed by replacing the tuners, the pickups and adjusting the neck/saddles. Dropping some decent offshore pickups into this would be a very low cost high impact upgrade. There are other cosmetic issues, link how the route the truss rod slot, but again, for this price? It's fineThe Worse, these are going to be more expensive to fix, likely costing more than the guitar is worth: The neck isn't finished and the wood on the one that I received is quite rough, seeming as though it hasn't been sanded properly. This causes your hand to catch and is quite unpleasant. The frets are uneven, require levelling and the ends are so sharp that they will actually cut you. That you can file yourself and I've seen this on Bullet/Affinity/MIM fender guitars, but not to this extent. Realistically, the neck on this should be replaced. So, if you are looking for a body at an ok price, maybe buy this? I still think there are better options out there. If you get lucky, you might get something with a usable neck, judging from other reviews. My advice would be to look for a good used Affinity / Bullet Fender Strat, or just pay $100 more for a new Bullet
