I picked up this step drill for my garage remodeling, and honestly, it went better than expected. I’m just a regular DIY guy - I don’t care about fancy materials or coatings from the listing, I just need tools that work. And this one does. It drills clean, doesn’t wobble, and makes the job easy. I’ve used it on metal brackets, an electrical box, and some hard plastic panels (was very careful and slow not to crack them by the way), and it cuts through smoothly every time. No catching, no struggling - just nice, clean holes. The tip is sharp and doesn’t wander when I start drilling, which is a big plus because I’ve used some cheap step drills that slip all over the place before biting in. One thing I’ve learned - if you’re drilling a lot of holes back-to-back, adding a little of cutting fluid helps keep it from heating up too much. Not a big deal, just something to keep in mind if you want it to last longer. Overall, this step drill has been a solid addition to my toolbox. This 4 spiral flute step drill bit is what I was looking for clear step cuts. It came in a very good packaging including a clear protective plastic box to store away neatly. The drill point is so sharp, it provided pinpoint penetration with ease. While I cannot provide my review for metal workers as I am a woodworker, I can see this bit lasting for a long time. Clearly etched diameter marking enabled drilling to the size needed easily. I use my drill press most of the time for accurate drilling however, universal hexagon shank will make it very easy to use this bit on power drills as well. I am planning on buying the other sizes from this manufacturer as I am impressed with its quality

These step drill bits are pretty nifty. I used it to drill some holes in, well, stuff. wood, plastic – the usual suspects. They zipped right through, which was nice. I was a little worried about them getting dull quickly, but so far, so good. The different sizes are super handy; no more fumbling around for the right bit. And the markings for the sizes? Genius! I actually knew what size hole I was making, which is a win for me. My infant son, however, remains unimpressed. He just gives me this look like, "You're drilling holes again, aren't you?" tough crowd. Anyway, this bit is definitely going to be a permanent resident in my toolbox. its a good nuff value and they do what they’re supposed to do. What more could you ask for? PS my latest project is installing a water filter on my sink, so we shall see how it performs on sink sheet metal.

Update: returning this item. It is defective and you get what you pay for in terms of quality.This step bit is fantastic! I have used it quite a bit since purchasing for a project. The bit seems to be holding up well and has been perfect for drilling through aluminum.It has 19 different step sizes and it offers great versatility. The spiral design naturally helps kick out debris easily.It has great functionality and versatility and is very easy to use! I highly recommend it for the value.

I bought this to open the hole on stainless steel washers and it would not cut. That being said, the supplier made it right. I am much happier now.
