The muffler shops use an app that recommends a much more expensive cat. The state of California has a list of acceptable catalytic converters, this was on that list. It was either CARB or AQMD, I don't recall. Anyway, my emissions went way down after I had a muffler shop install this for me. I think if I had to do it again I would have used clamps and an expander and saved the muffler shop fee, but I would defiantly use this. I passed the smog check after I had this installed. The muffler shop would have charged over twice as much for the whole job.

I was hesitant to purchase since it’s cheaper than oem catalytic converters that are really expensive. In my scenario I had different engine in my car so their is no oem option. Break it in first 300 miles.

I did a lot of researching on catalytic converters before making my choice on the Magnaflow, it met my needs as far as size and it is CA approved. I originally had long tube headers and no cat, because I used to just race the car. After I decided I wanted to daily drive the car again, I had to get right with CA emissions. I bought short tube headers and this Magnaflow cat converter and headed down to the smog shop. The car passed like a new car. I was highly impressed. The build quality on the converter is top notch, I wouldn't expect anything less from Magnaflow.

Bought for 98 econoline since mine was stolen. I needed 3†inlet/outlet. This is tiny compared to oem, of course I don’t expect oem, but damn if this barely passed CA smog. Tech failed it in the am told me to drive it hard and bring it back in the pm. I drove 60 miles to heat it up…it barely passed that time. Tech and I agree this won’t pass in 2 years. Will have to buy another one. Glad it passed but this is a temporary solution.

This catalytic converter shows on this add that it is for a 2000 Ford Excursion but it not and it is not a california Compliant , It is For a chevy Truck.
