I believe it has the same software as most full size DVD players, it has functions perfectly so far. I used the headphone jack to connect to portable speaker. The built in speaker is on the quiet side (which may be a good thing on road trips), but sound output through the headphone jack is loud (with the portable speaker volume up), crisp and clear, no distortion, it sounds good. I haven't tested any of the buttons on the unit, but the included remote is surprising well designed and stylish (similar to the style of a full size DVD player), it works perfectly and has good range. I bought the purple and it looks great, it's compact enough to fold up and store on a typical book shelf, the unit feels well built and is heavy enough to stay station, but light enough for any child to carry. I will be buying more just have extras.

I don't need much out of a portable DVD player, but I do need long lasting durability. I can't tell you if that will happen yet. But this DVD player is less annoying than many others I've had in the past. Most of these die within a year, or max two years. So I've got quite a graveyard of them. I hope this doesn't join the others.The remote is nicer than most. The buttons are easier to press singly. Sometimes you get a remote that's so miniature you need to be careful how you press buttons.The design is excellent as far as portable qualities. I was testing it and letting it charge on my knee (like you would be using it possibly in a car) and the handle was easy to hold and it felt stable. I don't even think my hand would get tired in that position because I could wrap my entire hand around the handle, not just a few fingers.I keep hoping to find something made in Japan or at least Taiwan or South Korea. But nope. It's made in China, not Osaka Japan. The AI is lying if you ask Google where Magnavox is made. The box says it's made in China. That's not a reason not to buy, for me. But I do want to know and I prefer to have choices. Especially on items like this, which end up causing a lot of electronics trash. I don't want to try something made in another country because I'm prejudiced against China. It's because I keep throwing them away and I wonder if it would be better. Since I have a difficult time finding out, I keep having no basis for comparison. And that's not competition, so it's bad business practice.I hope this one is made better and I can keep it for at least 5 years before it breaks down and starts being noisy or stops reading DVDs. IMO only that would make it a good value.

Tired of relying on YouTube! Lol! Pop in some.oñd school CDs and DVDs. The sound is ok and the volume is not as load as I would have liked. But hey, it's perfect for power outages as long as you charge it ahead of time. Also the material is not fancy. It looks like a good toy vs the old school DVD prayers that looked fancy. This is great because no one will steal your "toy" if you accidentally leave it on the counter. It has a handle which is great for kids to transport it to the other room without breaking it. The screen is way smaller than old school DVD players. But it works. The quality aligns with the price.I like it! Glad I bought it! I avoid buying off-brand items for electronics, chargers and ink.

Oh what fun! Don't understand why anyone has issues with the volume; I find the levels very comfortable and the sound quality is just what you can (or should) expect;Sound is clean and clear. Picture quality is excellent right out of the box. Should I also mention the adorable design? It is the ease of use and mobility that make this product worth every penny. I've always trusted the Magnavox brand, and this did not dissapoint. Ten for ten

I put in videos that I have stills of so I know work. Ironically they are all Ukrainian movies that don't work. I know that at least one of the people who liked these videos didn't want there to be war and a bunch of non-Ukrainans Russians really into the war and enacting violence on citizens, even of the US, suddenly starting co-opting their narrative. None of the videos work. They worked on the other devices. I'm returning the unit as defunct but save your money. Amazon is selling defunct units, they're mentally out of control of themselves.
