This rod worked great in the tight space for my Basement WH.The enclosed socket was essential as 27mmor 1 1/16†is pretty rare in toolboxes.I used my Makita impact drive reversing back and forth after applying liquid wrench for a day or two. Finally came loose.Use the included teflon tape if you love future you or just paying it forward.

Easy to install in my water heater that had limited overhead space. Fortunately, I had previously removed original rod, which was difficult to do, so much easier this time. We'll see if it protects the water heater in the long run.

The new Anode was delivered in an nice box along with PTFE Tape and a 27mm Socket. I had replaced the Gas Valve / Thermostat Assembly the week before, and observed this 12 year 50 Gallon Whirlpool branded (AO Smith) "6 year" tank had relatively no rust, so it was worth replacing the Anode. A pneumatic impact wrench was used to remove the old part, after trying just a breaker bar. I used a impact socket, rather than the supplied socket, because i did not want to mess around with might be a low quality socket. I show pictures of the old / new anode to give an idea of the new parts length and to show how the old anode "did its job" for offering my tank sacrificial corrosion. When I drained the tank the week before, there was about 4 gallons of small pearlescent globs which is a byproduct of the aluminum anode corrosion process. This substance actually clogged the drain valve, which I had to remove, to get the tank fully empty and flushed. Both my wife and I decided we did not like this substance that might be in our hot water, so we went with a magnesium anode this time around. Replacing the Valve / Thermostat (purchased a used assembly) took 2 hours and the anode replacement took 1 hour. Everything sealed up nicely. I spent a total of $85 to "refresh this tank" and hope i get at least 2 more years out of it, but my visual inspection suggests I could get another 6 or more. I gave this Anode kit 5 stars for value, being a nice kit, and decent quality. I will update this review if there is anything negative happening over the the next year or two.

Getting the socket was nice. The tape was really wide. Used my own 1/2" style, rather than 20mm or whatever it is. Used a 1/2" impact wrench to quickly power out the old. Very quick and painless swap. Anode seems of high quality.

Purchased the Magnesium Flexible Water Heater Anode Rod for my GE 50 Gallon Gas Water Heater. The original Anode Rod was a solid Non-Flexible Anode Rod. I had to bend it as I removed it due to the tight overhead spacing. This Magnesium Flexible Water Heater Anode Rod Worked Great for my situation.

Home maintenance while boring is necessary. This item is a reasonably priced replacement for my water heater. Especially like all the necessary items are in one package.

Only one issue. There was no O-ring. Surely it is required for a water-tight seal?

It arrived on time, everything included to install, it is a good kit with the flexible rod to bend and for installing in a water tank with a low ceiling. They are what they are, it goes in the tank and that is the last you see of it, like a vitamin. Install and inspect it in a year or so depending on what kind of water you have.

I was having issues with my hot water being hard and it had an orange tint and iron smell. This rod worked great in fixing my issue. It's great that it comes in a "sausage link" format because I don't have the overhead clearance to change the ones that are just a long solid piece.
