Perfect electricians saw, cuts 2†EMT and the chip collector helps keep the debris from hitting your face. Will not cut all the way through 2†rigid, have to spin the conduit a little while cutting but it can be done if skilled enough with it.I highly recommend buying the optional hook for the front of the saw as it helps keep it up out of the dirt or mud on jobsites. The blade that comes on the saw works great so no need to buy a better one before you wear it out first.Best cordless metal cutting saw you can buy in my opinion.

Used a lot to demo a large metal structure. My blade did not last very long since the metal was pinching the blade during cuts, and popped out some of the carbine teeth. But, even know the blade is kinda wrecked, it still cuts metal! Been using it in a lot of rebar.Much quicker and cleaner then a angle grinder or reciprocating saw. But make sure you wear long sleeves, sometimes some metal chips shoot at random directions!

Cordless model is so portable and convenient! I did over 60 cuts on 2" square tube, including plunge cuts, on 1 charge. Cuts tubing like butter! Collector for cuttings is very effective. One minor deficiency is the poor visibility to align the blade with the material cut line before cutting. I ended up using a marker pen to improve the visibility. Quiet and easy to handle.

Great tool! Lightweight. Very small amount of metal debris due to the encased saw blade.

To start, let me say I'm a Makita fan boy. I have so many of their 18V tools, I've lost count. As far as this saw? When I first took it out of the box, I was skeptical. Looked like there was a lot of cheap plastic on it. Between the blade guard, the door that hold the chip collector and so many other parts. I just thought there's no way this thing will last.... I fell in love with this thing on my first cut and figured I'd give it the benefit of the doubt. It went thru 18 gauge steel like butter and left behind a superb cut. Then I tried on some Kindorf strut. Again, great cut. Effortless, great finish on the cut. Little to no burr. All the chips got trapped in the catch pan thing, not on my floor. Tried another cut. Again it went great! Then I picked up the tool and saw a black plastic piece sitting on the bench. Hmmm.. Where'd that come from? It was half of the blade guard! Broken right off. On cut number 3. This thing could be soooo good... if only it was.... 5 stars for the way it cuts through metal. 1 star for all the cheap plastic junk it's made from. Returning it. I've been a Makita tool owner for years. I'm now questioning my loyalty. First it was their 18V battery fiasco causing me to have to replace them all (well except for one).) Now this. Shame on you Makita! The saw came with a nice set of safety goggles. I'd have rather they put the $ into making the saw robust. VERY disappointed. I'm going to buy a metal blade for my 22 year old big box (orange) circular saw. That still works and has never broken...

This is a great saw it catches most of the cutting chips, it cuts mild steel like butter, makes clean cuts with smooth edges, the battery life is good, The service life of the blade is excellent, far beyond what I would have expected, I have made dozens of cuts on tube steel, angle iron, expanded metal and flat bar. I would have given five stars but it has two design flaws one serious flaw. The safety trigger button sucks if you wear gloves it's hard to hold open, it's a total pain in the xss the other is the guard, it does not have any knob or lever to hold the guard open, its needed to slightly open the guard to start cuts at angles or even some straight cuts thats required in some circumstances, depending on material configurations, this is very ANNOYING and somewhat dangerous, as you have to try and hold the guard open with you fingers close to the blade like almost to the edge to allow to allow blade to start on some cuts, its a two handed risky and difficult operation.

Great saw to cut metal. The saw cut through a steel rail with no problems. I'd buy it again and would recommend it to anyone needing to cut metal rails, tubes, and etc.
