My student tells me they are too thick and he can't make a good sound. He says he thinks they are mediums instead of medium soft. Was happy that these fit good on his bassoon.

Reed did not work at all.It sounded like a duck.Our bassoon instructor took the reed home and worked with it.He told us that it was not finished when shipped to us. Will not purchase again.

I'd give it a 4.5 if the system let me... Disclaimer: I'm new to bassoon so take this with a grain of salt. The reed is on the harder end of "Medium Soft" taking about as much air as a normal MS reed but more careful embouchure of a full "Medium." I'm playing a 50+ year old Moennig and this reed hits and sticks the lower Bb as well as the upper register BUT the overall sound is harsher/bolder than some other reeds. This may just be a function of the newbie playing, the particular instrument (every model has a different "feel), but I figured I'd toss that out. To answer the REAL question: yes I'd buy this reed again.

I like these reeds. I have a problem with my E 3 flat and natural with most reeds, but not with this one. Bottom line is that I keep buying them because they're consistent and have a good sound.

The reeds arrived quickly, and were well protected during shipping. I am new to playing the bassoon, and am currently testing various reeds. While Marlin Lesher are not the best I have tested (in my very limited experience), they are probably second best...and worth a try.
