Okay, I usually skim the reviews, especially the negative ones to see if I’ve missed something that someone else caught. Sometimes, that is the case. Sometimes, I have to shake my head at some of the negative reviews and the reasons they give. So, I also will sometimes clarify my experience that may be different from other reviewers.I bought this magnetic tool for the one specific purpose of being able to easily and quickly test for magnetic properties of steel items in pathways or in construction. I was using a larger magnet, but it was hard to reach small areas. I happened to see another reviewer using one like this, and knew immediately he had the solution I needed.I needed a strong magnet for my purposes, and this pen-style pick-up tool has a strong neodymium magnet. It’s not as strong as the large magnet I was using, but for its size, it’s just as strong. I have one that telescopes, but that would not suit my purposes, so I specifically made sure it didn’t telescope. The clip is nice and tight for a firm grip in your pocket. Guess that takes care of several negative reviews.Amazon Vine sent this product to me for an honest unbiased review. Would I recommend it for others? Yes, this is very good, metal pen-style pick-up tool that does not telescope with a strong magnet for its size.

Finally, after losing countless tiny metal parts - computer screws, ball bearings, other small bits - this is a pretty welcome tool to keep bits from disappearing when they hit the ground and bounce away! You can get more fancy, but I'm happy to know this magnet grabs, and sometimes better than my fingers when I clean and work on things.Just don't sore it around your phone or thumb drives!

This pen-magnet is very strong for it's size. Perfect for retrieving small items in tight places. It works really well in the office to pick up paper clips and staples. It comes in handy when removing small screws and one wishes to ensure they don't fall off and get lost.
