These work better than the ones that came with my canning lids . And I also use them for my freeze dryer . If I drop my oil cap this picks it up.

For us, older ladies that love to sew this telescoping magnet is a godsend. I am always dropping stick pins on the floor and this magnet that telescopes is wonderful. I don’t have to get down on the floor to pick up pins. I gave one to all of the ladies in my “groupâ€.

This review is for the Anteecana brand 24†Telescoping Magnetic Grabber/Retrieving Rod.If you’ve ever used one of these before, you know what to expect. Telescoping magnet tools have been around for a long time; this is just another one in a long line of them. Others may be higher quality with stronger magnets, but they also cost quite a bit more. This particular one is just functional enough and just sturdy enough to be a good buy, especially at this price. The magnet is reasonably strong, and the rod extends a decent, usable length, though it isn’t the sturdiest at full extension with weight on the end. I would hesitate to pick up anything even approaching a pound with this thing. This sort of tool is extremely useful to have around. Any time you drop a screw or a bolt behind, under, or inside some appliance or hard to reach place, in your kitchen, on your workbench, in the engine bay of your car, you’ll be glad you have it. Even if you only use it once a year, you’ll be very thankful you have it.

This is about the size of a slim ball point pen and yet extends to a full 2 feet and has an approiately large magnet that holds on to what you pic up.

It is very fragile. But overall it works properly.

The 24†Durable Telescoping Magnetic Grabber/Retrieving Magnet is a versatile and practical tool designed to help users retrieve small metal objects in hard-to-reach places. This tool comes in a 3-pack, with each tool having a 5 lb magnetic capacity and featuring a telescoping design for extended reach. The tool is compact and pen-shaped, making it easy to carry and use in various situations. The addition of a pocket clip adds convenience for storing the tool when not in use.Pros:Strong Magnetic Power (5 lb capacity):With a 5 lb magnetic strength, these grabbers are effective at picking up small metal objects, such as screws, nails, washers, or tools, from tight or hard-to-reach places. The magnet is strong enough for most household, automotive, or workshop tasks.Telescoping Design:The 24†telescoping feature allows users to extend the grabber to reach objects in difficult-to-access areas. Whether you’re working under a car, behind furniture, or in a cramped space, the long reach makes this tool highly effective for retrieval.Pen Shape and Portability:The pen-shaped design is both compact and lightweight, making the tool easy to carry in a pocket or tool belt. When not in use, the telescoping mechanism can be collapsed, keeping the tool portable and convenient for everyday tasks.Pocket Clip:The pocket clip adds extra convenience, allowing users to attach the grabber to their clothing or tool bag. This feature ensures the tool is always within easy reach when needed.Durable Build:The grabbers are built to last, with a sturdy metal construction that can withstand daily use in a variety of environments. The materials used are designed to endure rough handling, making it a reliable tool for both personal and professional tasks.Cost-Effective 3-Pack:The 3-pack offers great value, giving users multiple grabbers at an affordable price. Having three tools available can be useful for different areas of work or for having a spare on hand in case one gets lost or damaged.Cons:Limited Weight Capacity:While the 5 lb magnetic capacity is adequate for most small objects, it may not be sufficient for retrieving heavier items. Users looking for a tool to handle more substantial loads might need to consider a more powerful magnet.Magnet May Lose Strength Over Time:Some users may find that after repeated use, the magnet’s strength may gradually decrease, especially if exposed to rough conditions. It's important to handle the tool carefully to maintain its effectiveness.Small Objects Only:The grabbers are designed for small metal objects. Larger or heavier objects may not be able to be retrieved effectively with this tool, limiting its use in certain situations.Telescoping Mechanism:While the telescoping mechanism is practical, it may feel slightly flimsy or weak under extended use, especially if subjected to excessive force. Users should exercise caution when extending the tool to prevent damage. Not Suitable for Non-Metallic Objects:As a magnetic tool, it can only pick up metal items. It will be ineffective for retrieving non-metallic objects or debris, which may limit its application for some users.Overall:The 24†Durable Telescoping Magnetic Grabber/Retrieving Magnet is a handy and versatile tool for anyone who frequently needs to retrieve small metal objects from tight or hard-to-reach spaces. Its strong 5 lb magnetic capacity, telescoping design, and pocket clip make it convenient, portable, and effective for most household, automotive, and workshop tasks. The 3-pack offers great value, ensuring that users have multiple grabbers available, whether at home or on the job. However, it may not be suitable for handling heavy or large items, and the magnet’s strength can diminish over time with heavy use.Overall, it's an excellent tool for light to moderate retrieval tasks, offering practicality, ease of use, and portability at a reasonable price.

I got this for all of those times when a screw drops somewhere smaller than my hand will reach, and it does exactly what I want it to in those situations. It’s small and compact when you’re not using it (think pocket thermometer if you’ve ever worked in a kitchen) and has a pocket clip so it can go just about anywhere. Plenty of magnet strength for screws, nuts, washers, even some smaller bolts. If it can’t pick it up, it will at least drag it which is sometimes enough. Getting three is nice so I can stash them in various places and always have one at hand. It extends smooth and has help up to my using it as a bit of a fidget toy, so that shows it should be plenty durable. Overall this is a good little tool to add to any workshop for light tasks.

I was changing the alternator in my wife's van the other day and dropped a screw. It landed on the skid plate rather than falling through to the ground. I could see it but i couldn't really get to it. I eventually got it, but I wasted a lot of time trying to retrieve that screw.Anyway, that's when I decided to get one of these telescoping magnetic pick up tools. If i had one when I was working on the van, i wouldn't have wasted so much time. This tool opens and closes smoothly and the magnet at the end is reasonably strong. I like that it's a set of three so I can keep one in the garage, one in the basement, and one in my tool box.The only negative is that the pointy end of the clip is very sharp on the ones I got. One of them actually drew blood, so i took a minute and filed them all down a bit, now they're great.
