I finally got to deliver this belated gift to the 7 year old grand niece. She was so excited because her uncle is a microscopist (he runs the scanning electron microscope at a university). This microscope has the usual eyepiece, but it can also project images onto a screen or wall. This makes it a great teaching tool. Old fashion optical microscopes are great but there's no way to point out structures to the budding microbiologist. With the projected image, it's easy for the child to ask questions and be certain that you're referring to the correct object. The only reason that it isn't 5 stars was the focus could have been a little easier to use. Overall a great educational gift. It's worth it.

this was was on my sons Wish list for a while. He has been wanting to look at all the little tissues and details. I think it’s such a fun science project, especially for us homeschoolers it was simple to use and very interesting, even I had fun;)

This is an easy to use microscope. The optics are ok, especially at lower magnifications. Durability of the product is decent, so it should hold up well with even smaller children. Overall, this is a great toy for aspiring young scientists.

We had visiting grandkids and I ordered this after my stories about Science Fairs of my youth (Anatomy of the Earthworm, 1st Place, thank you). We only had one day overlap, but got to use it somewhat. Our grandkids are probably a bit young for this, but the pre-made slides and the projector features bridge the gap. The hope is that on future visits we can broaden the experience and make our own slides. It is actually pretty good. I guess digital advancements are cheaper than precision optics. For the price, it is kinda nuts.

Comes with many many good items. First. This runs on three button batteries. Microscope arrives with three batteries already installed. And! Comes with three replacements! Really good.Bottom of microscope is typical AA battery case and you do need to provide these.Terrific specimen holders: two very soft pull-string bags, small boxes, and cannisters. Enough to truly get you started in saving your own speciimen. The storage bag has a nice shoulder strap and is well padded. There is a well written instruction book, and, a nice quick-start instruction card.Microscope itself works great. I liked the 100X magnification. Using the 400X and 1200X made everything too distorted for me. But maybe that just shows what good magnification this has and I need to learn how to better use it.The many prepared slides are really interesting ranging from fruit, nature, to insects. The projector and prepared discs really work great. It's quite interesting and fun for kids to watch.Microscopic is light weight, easy to move around especially for kids. The microscope does stay still on flat surfaces when using it.The tools are not very useful. Tweezers are extremely bulky and will not pick up anything small. Knife is plastic, dull and useless for cutting even when used by an adult. Water dropper is all plastic and just does not work (we used an old eye dropper). There is an instrument called a spatula but the end you use flips back and forth and is useless. Mini screw driver is good for opening the battery case.Great instrument, well made scope with good vision. It is just the mini-tool set that is not useable.

I am in the science field, so I love ways to introduce science to my two kids. This microscope is really cool, and better quality than I could have anticipated. Setup is easy, just pop in 2 AA+ batteries and you're ready to go. The kit comes with a good variety of pre-set slides, and I really like that it also comes with two blank slides and coverslips so they can really get creative with what they want to view under the scope. It's easy to use and the magnification adjusts easily. The lights work well, and make it easy to see what you're putting under it. The microscope itself is very lightweight, and easy for my kids to move around. Overall, it's a great beginner microscope and a good wallet friendly option for introducing littles to the world of science. It would make a great Christmas or birthday gift, and I would recommend it without hesitation.

Got this kids microscope for my 11yo niece and 6yo nephew and it works great! It's very nice and sturdy. The case cover can double as a screen for the projector. The slides are also informative for your little ones. Also the microscopic kit will keep your future lab tech busy for hours.
