Putting the accompanying ladder rack in my 2010 Dodge 1500 requires these legs because the bed is too deep. So far, I am pleased with the whole ladder rack system.

I needed it for my 2015 f150. Made the install a snap. Spend the money on this, it will save you so much time. Here is a picture of the one in the box next to this extension.

Package arrived with the box damaged (no fault of the merchant), and one of the set screws missing. Another set screw was just loose in the box and I'm surprised it hadn't fallen out too. This could easily have been avoided by putting the set screws in a small envelope and taping it to one of the pieces. Looks sturdy enough and I'm sure it will be a breeze to install, and the set screw can be replaced for a dollar or so, so overall, I'm happy with the purchase.

If you bought the maxxhaul ladder rack and have a man-sized truck, you're going to need these. Unfortunately, the design is poorly thought out. The bottom piece with the height adjustment holes blocks the ladder rack from going far enough into the mount. This puts your ladders up too high. It looks stupid and makes it hard to reach the ladders. My recommendation to anyone installing these is to install it loosely, mark everything and then cut the bottom adjuster piece right above the bolt that clamps it together. Then cut the top sleeve off at your bed height if necessary. Put your racks in, measure the distance between your roof and then cut the leg of your rack to drop your rack to how far you want it off the roof. Once the rack is in place, drill the mount and the rack for PTO pins or another type of quick release. You will dent up the tubes if you use the as designed clamp bolts and make it difficult to remove the rack.If Maxxhaul was thinking, they would have made the original legs two inches taller and require the customer to cut them flush with the top of the bed. They would put vertical bolt slots in the mount that attaches to the bed rail so you can easily get that mount flush with the bed rail. Let's be honest. If you can't mark out and drill holes accurately in your bed rails, you shouldn't be doing any work that would require a ladder rack.If I had to do it again and was forced to use this brand, I probably would have spent the money on some aluminum stock or some hockey pucks and put spacers under the original legs. Or got the harbor freight version.....
