I wanted to build a load gauge for my tractor. This gauge is oil-filled to help make the readings steady. I compared the readings with my pressure relief valve, which was set to 2700 PSI. The gauge is rated at +/- 3-2-3 percent. (3% lower third, 2% middle third, and 3% higher third) The gauge seems to be within spec on the high end.About the only change I'd make is buying the 5000 PSI guage if I were to do it over, but that's on me.

I'm using this to measure output from a hydraulic pump that gets into the 1-2kpsi range. The gauge is holding up ok so far, no issues with the reading being offset, as far as I can tell. I like the two little blue markers that I can position at a low/high setting, so that I can see it from a distance.Overall this is a great little gauge for industrial or specific automotive uses. It will not measure transient spikes due to the liquid filled nature. Sometimes you want to see that, sometimes you dont.

This is not the first pressure gauge I’ve used over the years, and as a PSA - after it’s installed you should remove the top plug - and also it should be mounted upright. This is more important on the lower pressure units, and full disclosure, my plug is still in as I’m using it on outdoor machinery. The plug will equalize the air pressure to the gauge.I don’t have anything more accurate to compare it with - so I can't comment on accuracy, however something I’ve never had before are the slide gauges around the outside of the dial. Although kind of gimmicky, they are more useful than I expected - whether to remind me of a max pressure I should be using - define the max I can use, or set the minimum - I’m happy to have them. If I don’t need them I can twist them to the bottom out of the way. They claim stainless steel, however there is a fair amount of magnetism to it (the case, especially around the thicker “ringâ€). The brass has none. I know there are different grades of stainless, some with more or less magnetic pull, so I won’t say that it isn’t stainless, just that it’s more on the magnetic side.It did come with teflon tape, although I’m more of a liquid goo sorta guy. I do try to avoid tape around gauges, so word to the wise - if you do, keep it away from the inlet… maybe start after your first thread.I’m not sure why, but the inside of the gauge is threaded as well, with what looks like a #8 x 32 or something - but I didn’t verify - and Iâ€m really not sure its purpose, unless it’s just during manufacturing?
