Pounding a cut of meat works to help tenderize, but this product improves results 100%. I’ve seen many recipes that mention “needling†then pounding but was at a loss until I saw this pop up. It breaks the fibers much more effectively plus allows marinades and seasonings to permeate more deeply than pounding. My first try was chicken fried steak out of bottom round. Perfect! Then chicken breast, again, wonderful results.I’m a 70 yo, senior lady and fortunate to have good hand & arm strength; others might find it a bit resistant unless you use both hands and lean into it. Cleaning it up is easy, I love it!!

I’ve only used it once and because I didn’t know how tough the meat was before using this tenderizer it was hard to determine how effective it was.. But because of how the meat looked after using the product, I could only assume that it did break things up to the point of making it easier to cut and chew. I also noticed that it shortened the cooking time so you had to be careful not to overcook the meat. It’s also important not to over tenderize lest you destroy the meat.
