Your cart is empty.The Meinl Sonic Energy wave drum (or ocean drum) is made of Siam oak with pre-tuned rawhide goat skin and clear synthetic heads. Inside are mixed metal beads that give the drum its instantly recognizable ocean surf sound effect. PLEASE NOTE: the natural head will have slight color variations from pictures shown. Slowly tilt the drum any direction to allow the beads to roll around the drum head (recommended to hold the drum with the transparent synthetic head facing up). Use for sound immersion, sound baths, ASMR, meditation, yoga, Reiki therapy, live acoustic music, and recorded music. TWO BIG THINGS: you can control the amount of beads inside with the sealable port on the shell (go for a light or strong sound). The heads are pre-tuned and playable with your hands or soft mallet (mallet sold separately). BY THE NUMBERS: 16" diameter x 2.5" deep. The drum has a wide variety of uses, but it's best suited for sound immersion to create relaxing ocean sounds—a great tool for sound healing practitioners. The ocean drum has been one of the best additions to my sound bath offerings. It’s the most asked about and purchased instrument once experienced.I use it as a drum and for the ocean sounds, going over participants bodies for a fully felt vibrational experience. I also travel for offsite events and it’s held up very well. Great sound and well made.

If you're new to sound healing you'll find a lot of places sell these ocean drums. You get what you pay for. These are instruments, not toys. Pay $30 for one this size and you'll be disappointed.This thing is gorgeous and worth every penny. The sound quality, the craftsmanship, and the overall aesthetic are superb.

I bought the Meinl wave drum for my sound therapy practice. I use the drum, along with other instruments, as a tool for grounding at the end of my gong bath. Meinl make high end quality products and instruments and this drum is no exception. I bought the large 22'' drum which in hindsight is larger than I needed. This drum is loud! However, a port in the side of the drum allows the sound intensity to be adjusted by altering the number of beads inside.It makes an excellent sound which clients have told me varies from the sound of rain gently falling onto a roof to the sound of waves crashing onto the shore. Being the larger sized drum it takes a little bit of practice to generate the rhythmic sound of crashing waves. By varying your playing technique it is easy to make variety of sounds ranging from energising and stimulating to mesmerising and relaxing.This is a superb high quality instrument that I highly recommend!
