Annoyingly some newer Dell desktops have this unique mini power connector for the cd drive. Instead of just using the regular sata power connector, that all replacement ATX power supplies come with.So you will need to purchase something like this to convert one of the sata power connectors to the mini sata connector.This does work, and it did not feel hot to the touch when the system was on. So it appears to be made to work. Even though I just needed one power adapter cable it was nice to have a backup when I inevitably run into this again.I tested both adapter cables, and they fit both power ports without breaking anything.Dell may have made an annoying choice by powering the disk drives from the unique connector, but luckily the cable is not to terribly difficult to put back, if you line up the plug the same way the old one came out.Do not force these plastic connectors though. These are as strong as the original plastic connectors inside the Dell case. So they will take some real pushing the wrong way to snap something. Just don’t force anything and you should be fine.

I didn't know I could extend my Power to this old cd rom drive like this but it worked. Helped me save my old computer from the landfill.

There is a small bump inside the connector to prevent it from coming out too easily, but on one of the 2, it was too big and I could not get it off the drive.The drive connector finally broke. I was able to fish out the broken piece and glue it back on. I also took a razor blade to "shave" the bump out. The drive survived and the cable was ok. Hey cheap junk from (you know where) and 50% of it works, so it is not bad.

The slim-line DVD/CD drive, model DS-8A9SH, was kicked out of a Dell Precision T5610 box by some hard and SSD drives. This power cable allows a SATA-to-USB gizmo to power the DVD drive.
