I give 3 stars for educational as it really is more a physical toy.We haven't had a problem with it. Being that this is wooden it will swell & shrink with humidity & air conditioning, making some holes larger or smaller thus harder to hammer or too loose. Of course there may have been manufacturing flaws in some of the sets. Ours is fine. I believe the toy was designed to have different pegs hammered easier & some harder for the physical work & thinking aspect of hammering more lightly or harder. It's to make them think a little about what to do.This is another toy that should be considered according to the child. And if you're concerned about injury if your child likes to bang on people with things, as many kids do, that's not the toy's fault. That's when the parent, guardian or supervising adult needs to step in & teach the child not to bang on people. My son does the same thing, but I tell him we do not hit people & I take the hammer (or whatever it is) away for a while.All in all it's a good classic toy, better than plastic but yes, you may get one that's not right, like with all things, but that's easy enough to remedy; return it.

Remind me of my childhood, my son absolutely loves hitting things and drumming and this is his favorite toy. I’m actually buying another one because his older sibling and him are constantly fighting over it. It is well made all wood and well worth the price.

This is made completely of plastic. And you can push the pegs back-and-forth with your hands. My grandson is a very big very strong boy for 2 1/2 years old. He does use the hammer just for fun sometimes. But this toy just falls over rocks a lot, and he just can pull the pegs right out with his hands. so honestly, it is not what I intended at all very cheaply made I guess I got what I paid for

Grandson enjoys playing with this set. Wish the "nails" didn't come all of the way out but he likes to push them out as well as hammer them. Holds up to his hammering :)

Great little toy! Grandson is 8 months old and just started learning how to bring things together (cause and effect) and he loves this toy. Melissa and Doug is a good brand and this is very well made.

My grandson loves this toy. There are so many things to learn and safe if it goes in his mouth.We teach words such as push and pull with it and the 4 primary colors.It’s inexpensive and easy to stow away.

A mi bebé le encantó. Pensé que tendrÃa que mostrarle cómo hacerlo pero él solito lo intuyo... Lo malo es que el martillo está algo pesado para un bebé de un año que avienta todo y todo lo agarra de tambor jaja. Pero buen juguete, hasta a los adultos entretiene por un rato!

Very sturdy and already the favorite toy. The pegs are pretty difficult to use the hammer on. Pretty loud for my 2 year old started covering his ears. Worked the pegs through a few times and now a bit easier. Pretty happy for price!

Bought this hammer and pegs set for my 1 year old grandson and he loves playing with it.It’s good quality and hard wearing which is just as well for the pounding it gets.Definitely recommend
