If all you want are the plates you'll be happy. I stripped the very first screw drilling into soft pine. I threw the rest away.

What I like about this.Decently strong. Comes with two different length screws.What I don't like about it.It's more for just being strong enough to hold two pieces of wood together. I wouldn't use it in places where it would be in sight for a project. Or in places where something on top of it would need to be as flat as possible. I'd instead use plates that have tapered holes so screws can be driven in flush instead. I don't like the look of screws sticking out and it would be an issue for flatness for some projects. Like for example as shown in the pic, the last time I used similar plates was for adding on some plywood for some speakers to a TV stand I made for a lazy susan. Those plates did have tapered holes. With these not allowing screws to sit flush it would have made the speakers not sit on as securely.But for other things where that's not an issue this will get the job done so I'm still going to 5 star it.

This metal plate would work well as a mending plate, but for me, I needed a way to mount some magnetic lights in the closet. Strapping one of these plates to the wire shelf provided a full flat surface for the lights to magnetize too so this worked exactly as needed!

The mending plates themselves are nice. Thick and well coated to prevent rusting. They do not easily bend - not even a hint of bending with bare hands, tho they do give a little given enough pressure applied with the screws.Speaking of screws, the ones that come with the set are tiny. #4 or #5 size and only 1-1/8" depth. They feel very mis-matched in terms of size and quality to the plate. The screws feel like they are better suited for something lightweight like hobby or some light repair.I ended up using these mending plates to fix a backyard fence, but instead of the provided screws used #10 3" screws. The whole thing worked out perfect.

I always have a need for brackets like this.I try to stock up on them if I can.They function well, they're nice and thick, and they're a good value for the money. I don't normally use the supplied screws on these types of brackets, but this set came with some that are over an inch which is perfect!!
