This was ordered for a Hampton Bay patio heater (from Home Depot) that would not stay lit after releasing the knob - the classic sign of a bad thermocouple. This one seemed to fit my heater and included the tip-over shut-off switch in case that was bad took. The assembly fit perfectly in all the connections and and got my heater working again.The only issue is that the original thermocouple had a threaded body and was secured to to the heater via a pair of nuts. This particular one has a smooth (unthreaded) body that is tapered and has a notch in the bottom. The photos and description were not super clear about this. I think its intended to be pressed into the mounting hole and the notch holds it in place. It would not fit into my mounting hole; a slightly enlarging the hole with a drill bit let it slip in. The stiffness of the wire keeps it in position, but a dab of heat-resistant epoxy would help stabilize it.If you have a smooth-body thermocouple this will work great; if yours has threads and nuts look for a different one.

This Thermocouple is an exact match for my Fire Sense patio heater. It took a little bit of time to disassemble the heater head to exchange the part, but was fairly simple to do. The pilot now stays lit after just a few seconds of lighting and heater works great again.

I bought this for The above patio heater that I bought at Home Depot about five years ago. I would push in on the pilot light, hit the igniter and it would light with no problem. As soon as I let go of the pilot the flame would go out and not stay lit. I thought that it was either the thermal couple or the tilt switch, but for $12 they come as one and as long as you have it apart you might as well change them both. When it came and I took the heater apart, it was the identical part. It was easy to install and the heater now works like a champ.

I bought my patio heater from Home Depot about 5 years ago. I do not use it very often but when I needed it, the pilot would not stay lit. I looked to google and YouTube and found out it was most likely the thermocouple. I removed the top shield (4 screws) and the small screen access door (2 screws). The product I received from Amazon was an exact match. It was not difficult to replace just follow the way you remove the defective part. This was a great buy and one day Prime delivery. My heater is working great and will be ready for the Packers game.

Just get one if your thermocoupler or tip switch fails. Ignore the Youtube videos on bypassing the tip switch. It is just crazy and irresponsible to risk burning your home or deck down to save less than $10 on a new switch. They are super easy to install and require no special tools or knowledge. Take a picture of your current one before disassembly but essentially it is two wires that clip on and a couple of screws to anchor the switch. Could not be easier and will help ensure the safe use of your propane heater going forward.

The product works. There were no instructions for assembly but most should be able to work it out. Fired up the first time. I hope this will last longer than the almost identical part that it replaced which only worked one time. Cross my fingers but the price was great considering what a new patio heater would cost.

I was a about to throw this heater away, it quit working and I tried every little fix I read about until I saw this product and read the reviews describing similar problems being solved by this item. I thought for $15 I would give it a try. It was easy to install, and my patio heater works better than ever!! I am buying the same part for my other heaters now that I know it works!!
