I initially balked at the price, but decided to give it a shot because someone mentioned their arthritic cat loved it. Mine does too! She took to it quickly, and wasn't scared away by the cleaning cycle. It takes normal kitty litter, which I appreciate, and I only need to take litter out every 5 or so days. It fits my slightly larger than usual cat, at 11 pounds, and gives her enough space to move around despite being arthritic. Most importantly, it cleans regularly. The goofball has started to go outside the litterbox unless it's super clean. Cleaning takes about a half hour every month. It's a little unwieldy, so I recommend some kind of scrub brush for the mesh, and a scoop for the litter, because you can't just pour the litter into it. It will get dirty quickly if you don't regularly remove the poop bag, but so long as you do, it works perfectly and I'm super happy.Update: It's been a little over a year, and I am very happy with the litter box. My cat uses it with no problem, I've never had any problems with her being caught inside while it's cleaning itself, and the noise isn't too bad. Most of the time, I don't really notice it, unless I'm in bed trying to fall asleep and the house is quiet. I take about 2 hours to clean this, and do it monthly, and then empty the waste bag about every 5 days. That's a good chunk of time, but overall, less than I was with my previous litter box.have two cons, but they aren't deal breakers. One: the latch can sometimes get kitty litter stuck in it, and then not close properly, creating a mess. Two, my cat is getting older, and less mobile, so she tends to urinate in just one spot, so it gets messier quickly and she tracks wet litter. but that's less a defect with this product, as something to keep in mind in deciding which automatic one is better. maybe the square large one is a better choice if your cat is like mine.Tl:DR: love it, it's worth the money, but it's not magic bullet where you never have to handle kitty litter again.

The auto litterbox has been a hit!! It was easy to set up and the app works well. I changed the default cleaning from 1 minute after to 10 minutes because it allows the litter to clump better and doesn't 'stick' to the sifting grate. The smell issues from standard boxes is contained and virtually unnoticeable. It used to linger for 5-10 minutes!!I used a scoop to add the litter which actually caused less dust than pouring it in as I used to do with the standard boxes. I've deep leaned the unit 2x so far. The 1st time was a learning experience and I was slightly frustrated about not being able to fully drain the water. Now I know the trick which is to place the drum on its side with the litter pan door open- it's not going to break-and slightly elevating the other end off the draining surface so the water runs out. After 20 min or so I wipe the interior with a microfiber cloth and it's ready to add litter. (It would be nice if some sort of drain (like coolers have) could be incorporated into the drum somewhere)I bought 2, 1 at home and 1 at my cabin. I haven't been able to hook the cabin one to the app but I haven't researched that, just tried hooking to the wifi there...obviously I need to search for the proper procedure. My cats took to the new box after checking it out from all angles and were surprised when it started to rotate, but now it's a game to them. The sensor to stop the drum when something gets close works well and the kitties spend hours in front of it watching it start n stop. The thing is that cats stare at their 'prey' unmoving. The unit uses a motion sensor so when it doesn't detect movement it starts back up, even tho the cat is still there. Like I said, it's a game they enjoy!! As of today, my girl has decided she wants to use it as a bed. The unit will stop when she moves and she jumps right in no matter the position the drum is in. (She is a little strange!)Overall I am very happy with these auto boxes. I did velcro a plastic shield to the opening to stop the litter being kicked out by my bigger 'digger' and it has solved that issue. Yes, there is litter that gets left on the top orange frame holding the bag in the litter disposal ( the only issue that the manufacturer might want to address. It would be nice to have tighter fit) but that is very minor. I have not had any issue with soiled litter being spilled out of the bag. No system is perfect and I'd rather brush or wipe some litter specks into the bag then the old way of manually, daily, scooping all of the waste out.I highly recommend the Meowwant brand!!

We needed an automatic litter box low to the ground for special needs kittens that can't climb and have mobility issues. This is one of the only ones we could find. It took a few days and while they do not use it all the time they do it enough to say it was worth it. Cats can easily get in and there is plenty of room for them. I like it is a bit smaller than the more expensive unit. As far as app, we don't use that. Some people noted the waste bin was small, I'm not sure why. Plenty big enough! I usually dump ours daily as we have multiple kitties. I use plastic grocery bags instead of buying new liners. Works great. What can I say, it does what it is suppose to do. Life saver for overnight when I can't scoop. I have not had to take the entire unit apart yet for a deep clean and will update when I do. Super quiet, love that. Easy to wipe down. Currently I have it next to the more expensive unit and doing a test to see which kitty prefers. So far they are using this box versus the other expensive one. I already purchased a second one and may even be getting a third. Will update if we have any issues.

This smart litter box is perfect tool for folks with ADHD or anyone with a busy schedule who struggles with daily litter box maintenance. I never thought I'd find a safe, affordable self-cleaning litter box, but I managed to snag this one at $100 off for $279!I'll update this review after more use, but here's what I've noticed so far:Pros:1. Cleans efficiently after each use. I’m currently using a 2:1 mix of non-clumping corn litter and clay litter (to clump the corn litter). I have the device set to auto clean 2 minutes after use, and so far, it does a good job.2. No spillage. I recommend filling an inch or so BELOW the max line.3. No odour. You can't smell the litter box at all. The only time you notice the odour eliminator is when opening the waste bin compartment. Also, the odour eliminator doesn't bother my cats (just because I can't smell it doesn't mean they can't).4. The mat it comes with does good job catching stray litter. There's virtually no tracking.5. Minimal moving parts. There's no way a cat can get hurt/stuck in the device. I feel safe leaving it plugged in while I'm out. This is only recommend for cats 4+ months only though. A very small kitten could potentially be swept into the waste bin.6. My cats started using it right away. I placed it where their old litter box was and filled it with some of their used litter after scooping.7. Very quiet cleaning cycle. You can definitely hear it, but it's quieter than a fan and not disruptive.8. Sensors reliably detect when a cat or person is nearby and pauses cleaning.9. Decently sized waste bin.10. Low, accessible entry. Senior cats and cats with mobility issues will be able to get in and out just fine, even with the litter box guard on the front.11. Braided power adapter for extra durability. One of my cats likes to mess with cables, so I really appreciate the sturdy one it comes with.12. Fast and easy WiFi setup. The device needs a 2.4GHz connection, so if your router only supports 5GHz, you'll have to find a workaround to link it to the app (the user manual has some tips for this). If you can't/don't want to use the app or if your internet is down, you can still operate the litter box manually using the buttons on the front.13. No ads or paywalled features in the app. I researched smart litter boxes for months, and many brands now include ads or charge extra for app features. As of this review, the Air Pet app has none of that—and quite frankly, I would have returned the litter box if It did. Monetizing an app after customers already spent hundreds on a product is a major turn off for me.14. Amazing packaging. The unboxing experience was 10/10—everything was neatly packed, and the device was securely held in place with styrofoam for protection.Cons:1. Struggles to differentiate between multiple cats of the same weight. My cats both weigh around 9lbs, and this litter box cannot tell between them. If you’re looking for a smart litter box to accurately track the usage data of multiple cats of similar weight, this is not the litter box for you. This is my biggest gripe, but I’m not sure how it could be improved without adding microchip scanning—which would make it a lot less affordable.2. Frequent notifications if you have curious cats. My cats check out the litter box with two paws in, two paws out often throughout the day. This gets registered as a new cat each time because of the fluctuating weight readings (e.g., 1.3lbs, 2.2lbs, 4.6lbs, etc.). The notifications don't bother me since I now have them set to deliver quietly, but they were annoying the first night.3. Bulky, like all smart litter boxes. This isn't a flaw of the device itself, but it does take up quite a bit more space than a traditional litter box. The manual also recommends leaving some clearance around it, so you'll need to plan for extra room close to an outlet when deciding where to place it. This could be a challenge if you're in a small space. It's been less than a week, so I haven't cleaned the drum yet, but I can already tell it's going to be quite a task. You'll definitely need a bathtub for it though.

With three cats, I purchased two litter robots, one in December and one in February. One has “shake mode†display and capabilities and the other robot does not. A service request email has been submitted. They were very easy to set up and connect to my internet. Within two days all three kittens were using the robots and I was able to take away their existing litter boxes. If I had one complaint it would be for the robots to allow for more litter. The fill line is quite low and doesn’t provide a lot of space for the cats to do their business and then bury it. As a result I tend to over fill, and I waste ALOT of litter when the clean cycle runs. I have to dump the waste bags daily and 80% of it is unused litter.
