It’s very lightweight and feels kind of cheap, but it does what it’s supposed to do and that’s what matters in the end.

I originally got this device only for it’s amplification capabilities but I was pleasantly surprised to discover that it has its own internal power. I find it interesting that they didn’t make a bigger deal out of this feature on the listing, because that feature increases its usefulness tremendously by making it portable. The unit is charged through a barrel connection port on the back and an included USB cable. The case seems extremely well made. It is deceptively light weight considering the internal battery coupled with the metal construction. The all aluminum case with integrated heat sync is very robust and durable. The XLR ports on the front and back double as 1/4†stereo plugs which allows it to interface with a huge variety of mixing boards, amps, and audio interfaces.Another feature that I find to be essential is the ability to provide 48V phantom power for my condenser mic. I also appreciate the ability to turn it off depending on equipment and needs. This is done through a button near the gain knob on the face. Speaking of the gain, the dynamic range of this pre-amp is impressive for its size. It gives the audio quite a substantial boost, 20dB+, before hitting the mixer. Nice.All-in-all, this is a great little unit with myriad possibilities.
