Wood Stove Gasket Installation
- Be sure stove is cold.
- Wear protective gloves and eye protection.
- Protect work area with a drop cloth.
- Use a screwdriver or scraper to remove old gasket and clean door channels down to bare metal.
- Apply a bead of gasket cement in door channel.
- Press new gasket into wet cement and close door to check for airtight fit.
- Trim gasket as needed.
- Clean up all cement spills or excess immediately with wet cloth.

Gasket kit is exact replacement of original gaskets. Takes time to clean out the old gaskets but once cleaned out gaskets are easy to install if you follow directions.

Plenty of gasket and great detailed instructions for my Defiant Encode 0028. Replaced doors, ash pan, and griddle. Advice to others: don't follow the line when cutting the cement open. Go a little smaller for a better bead and more control. Take your time prepping the gasket channels. Scrape old gasket, then wire brush, then rub with acetone. Great product!

For the package I received, the ash pan door gasket was cut several inches too short. I had to stretch it to fit all the way around which shrunk the diameter, resulting in a poor seal on one side of the ash pan door.

I used this kit to rebuild my Vermont Castings Defiant Encore 0028. It has all of the needed gaskets except for the specialized spacer gaskets for the door glass, and I was able to reuse them.
