I'm an old fashioned guy. This summer I'll be spending dozens of hours running my county's public rifle range. That shooting place is rather lacking in creature comforts and so I need to bring drinking water. I liked the brick-like appearance of the canteen. The canteen carrier has a belt loop, a handle on the side, a pocket on the front and a sturdy shoulder strap. The canteen carrier looks as if it could hold two BREN gun magazines (I lack a BREN gun) and it is lined and water resistant--other canteen carriers have an insulating liner that when wet keeps the water cooler. On a whim I filled the canteen cover with water to see if it would make a good bucket.No--it leaks too much to be a bucket.

We bring this with us when we go hiking, kayaking, canoeing and camping . My husband was military and had one that was issued over 50 years ago. It was falling apart, dented, the canvas was filthy and worn. I refused to drink from it as it became unsanitary. He purchased this to replace it. Nice and easy to keep clean, and better, easier to carry on long all day hikes than carrying water bottles.

The canteen bottle works well, but wears holes in the carry bag after about 2,000 miles of hiking.

This thing is pretty large! The outer insulated carrier is well fitting and canteen itself appears to be well made. It's what I was hoping for when I ordered it!

Not much I can say bought as gift for my son so he said it leaked he had to put some kind of sealant on it but he also said lots of people in his national guard unit asked where he got it.

Just be aware, the US is a heat transfer, not embroidered. You can pretty much tell that from the pics though. Also it's plastic so don't recommend drinking water that has sat in it for a while or water that got hot in it. Great back up or emergency water though (for keeping in your car), great for hikes.
