I just received mine today, I was immediately impressed with the quality feel for a tool at this price. The Ebony has a very nice finish and feel, although there is no visible finish but sanded to a smooth sheen, maybe a fine wax. The blade was razor sharp so I set the blade and started shaping guitar braces, very nice. Everything about it is quality and would compare to a much more expensive tools. If they have other sizes I may be ordering again.

Giving this 3 stars because the wooden body of the plane has several knicks and chips throughout, some near the sole, some within the mouth. Some white scratch mark is also stuck on the thumbscrew.However, the plane came with a sharp blade out of the box, and was able to make nice shavings on some small pine stock.Edit: raising to 4 stars as the cosmetic issues didn’t cause much trouble. Blade stayed sharp after use and was overall a good weight and would buy again.

A very functional, well constructed and beautiful microplane. I use it for model ship planking but any model maker would like this. The blade is quality steel.

It functions ok. Not great just ok. What disappoints me is the fact that it was clearly used. The surface is all marked up. Don’t sell something as new when it is clearly used.

I use this micro plane for violin making. I thought for the price it would be junk. I was wrong. It is very well made. It actually came sharp enough to use. Similar type brand name planes cost over $60.00. At $14.95 this plane is a bargain! I was very surprised at how nice this plane is finished. I will be buying another one for a friend.
