Once I determined the best placement, I drilled slowly into the wood with a bit slightly smaller than the threads on the screw. I drilled, turned the screw until it stopped, removed, drilled again until the whole button settled into place without stress or strain, but snugly. Attached my strap. Done! Works beautifully! Love them so far. The strap fits snug around them and feels very secure. Gold matches the rest of the hardware on my strat. Highly recommend over the standard gold strap buttons.
