UPDATE: I've been using these and the optimizers for over a year now. Firstly they were one of the only good things about my 2020. These are great for recording & live use both. If you've ever felt like you love a cymbal so much but have a need to slap some tape or goo on it to adjust or tame the tone, these may work for you. I was actually very surprised how effective these could be. Depending on the moderator size you choose, these can change or slightly moderate your tone without sacrificing what is familiar about the sound quality of your cymbals. I recommend you browse Cympad's line of products. I rarely give 5 star reviews.OG: I had read and heard good things about these so I reluctantly decided to try these out. I was pleasantly surprised at how well they worked in the face of their blatant simplicity. They definitely help deal with overtones and sustain without changing the tonal quality of the cymbals. They offer a good volume reduction without over deadening when using the larger sizes. I tried these with both various Zildjian and Sabian's all with great results. Be patient, try out the different sizes and use your ears to the best of your ability and I think almost everyone will find these to be a great addition to the tool box.

They definitely reduce the volume of a cymbal. It can also make a washy sounding ride more pingy and controlled. I find them useful in a live setting if I'm playing at a smaller club, to control cymbals from getting too crazy on stage, or in a recording situation where I may want to reduce cymbal wash in the overhead mics. They slightly alter the tonality of the cymbal, but not in any major way that would be unexpected. It's pretty much what you would assume they would sound like if slightly muffled. Quick and easy, I love having these in my stick bag!

The Cympad Moderator series controls cymbal decay in the studio. Some people use gaffers tape but that leads to cymbals cracking. The cympads come in different sizes to dampen the cymbals! Great for studio work.

Of all these sizes, I found the 40mm to be the most useful and effective under a cymbal with a traditional felt on top of the cymbal. Anything larger than the 40mm size seemed to kill tone. My 18" crash had weirder overtones with the foam, so I use traditional felts on top and bottom of that crash. You may have different results, but for me, a pack of 40mm would have been the ticket.

These literally work as advertised! Whether the foam is as scientific as their marketing claims it works!It will dampen the bell of a cymbal quite bad though :(

These do work, initially. But they get squished down, especially the larger ones. This makes them pretty impractical to use, and not durable at all. I like this company's products, but i won't buy these again.

These have made a great difference to the sound of my cymbals. I can adjust the amount of excess overtones using different sizes. This has helped reduce feedback in our PA.

Die Becken werden leiser und klingen kürzer, so weit, so gut. Aber natürlich wird der Klang beeinflusst. Dass die Becken "trockener" klingen, also weniger brilliant, ist in Ordnung. Aber sie klingen auch "dünner", was vor allem bei der Kuppe (Glocke) des Ride-Beckens den Charakter total verändert. Aber andererseits ändert jede Art der Lautstärkereduzierung den Klang - egal ob man die Becken abklebt (igitt), leichter anschlägt oder Magnete anbringt. Insofern ist dieses Produkt schon das Beste. Die Größenverteilung in dem Set ist allerdings wenig praktikabel, denn es gibt zu wenig (kleine) Dämpfer für Crash- und Hihat-Becken. Insgesamt trotzdem ein gutes Produkt.

Efficace pour jouer en acoustique dans les bars, les théâtres, ou même pour des scènes où l'acoustique est trop brillante. Le pack est complet et permet de trouver la taille qui correspond au lieu/cymbale/degré d'atténuation désiré. D'ailleurs, il ne quitte jamais mon sac à baguettes, toujours prêt à servir !

Découvert lors de balances avant un concert, ces "modérateurs" permettent un très bon contrôle du son de vos cymbales. Pour les répétitions cela permet également de pas mal atténuer le volume.
