I had some reservations about purchasing this glass pen from a seller with no reviews, but went ahead with the purchase anyway. My pen arrived as promised, securely packaged and unbroken. The pen itself is quite pretty, and I was surprised how lightweight it is, since I was expecting it to be heavier.I've never had a glass pen before and I admit that I got it on an impulse based on my recent interest in fountain pens and ink. I was searching for an easy way to test out various inks, and an easy to clean glass pen seemed a good idea for this. The pen writes beautifully and smoothly. I am surprised to see how just a small dip in ink could be sufficient for 2 -3 paragraphs of writing. I didn't realize however that the first few written words will be loaded with ink but that as you progress the ink load thins out (which makes sense, since there's no cartridge like a fountain pen). Regardless I'm really happy with it, and it is working great for its intended use. I love it, and plan to use it a lot.It didn't come with a 'rest' such as other vendors sell, however this is not a problem. This fragile item will rest only in my hand, or securely in its box. I can't imagine leaving it out, even temporarily.Lastly I did want to mention that I was not compensated, didn't receive this for free, or even get a discount in exchange for my review. Nada. Zip. Zilch. This is my own honest review.

Seriously, this thing rocks. It writes so well and for so long. I own another beautiful ‘dip pen’ with a bright red feather on it but for years I’ve hardly used it and keep it as more of a mantle piece because it doesn’t hold the ink very long. But this one here is functional. It is glass though so it feels quite fragile. Would like to buy one or two more for “backup†in case it breaks. Very beautiful.

First odd, let me say I love this pen. I have a problem with it but I'll get to that later. The pen writes a bold, smooth line and I have yet to have a problem with too much ink flowing onto the page after having just dipped it in the ink. One dip into the ink lasts much longer than metal tipped pens and it is easier to tell when the the ink on the pen is about to run out. It writes a bolder, wider line than I am used to and since I write small, tight letters I am having a little trouble with legibility but I will eventually adjust to that. The pen is beautiful but what makes it so is what causes the one problem I have with it, a problem many people would not have. I have trouble holding pens and am often having significant pain in my hand after writing more than a line or two. Using fountain and dip pens whenever possible helps alleviate this problem. The pen has swirls that go from where you grip it to the tip. This causes the pen to shift in my grip constantly and causes me to hold it tighter and thereby causing me to have the pain I suffer when using a ball point pen or a pen with a slim barrel. I am trying to find a way to counter this but have not so far. Despite that problem would I recommend this pen? Absolutely. The weight is right and the pen feels to be properly balanced. It writes very well and cleaning it afterwards is very easy to do. If you are interested in trying a glass pen the price for this is low enough to test the waters and try one for yourself.

I could not be happier. I use inks to line my watercolours, mostly prewash (ie sketch in ink first).I am on a budget and was on a hunt for the perfect fine nib fountain pen (Pilot?) and a waterproof fountain pen ink ( Noodlers?). But I dont like Black. It has to be grey or sepia. The price, and not finding the perfect combination of fountain pen waterproof ink in grey or sepia was exhausting me so I decided to go for a dip pen, and glass ( just because..... its a novelty!) and a bottle of Ph Martins Bombay Ink in Sepia.OMG !!I use a fountain pen hold to write or sketch, I call it the lazy hold :) which is why the more vertical hold of a micron doesn't work for me. Plus I find the micron can be scratchy on some types of paper. The glass pen is so intuitive I was surprised for myself. I did watch tutorials on how to best use them (rotating from time to time, not holding it vertical) and the ink flows really well. I didn't get any blobs or blots. The hold is important and rotating the pen if you find the ink is not coming. Find your hold before you give up. :)It is smooth !Note:-Depending on type of ink do wash after use. I let mine sit while I watered the plants and the Bombay Sepia ink did not re-wet with just water.- However I can re-wet while I am sketching, like a watercolour brush, to get lighter tones. It's quicker to fill in shadows . Don't know why feels quicker than a pen.- I use those tiny brushes that come with ladies electric razors to nudge the ink out of the grooves when rinsing it out.- I store my pen, nib side up, in the tube it comes in, with a little foam cushion at the bottom to protect the end of the handle.-I store it in the same jar as my watercolour brushes.- Does not come with a pen 'pillow' so I just use a small plastic 'stand' I got out of another packaging.I thought I would get annoyed with the 'dipping' but because I paint, I don't find it annoying. Also like the reviews say, it does hold the ink well so I don't have to dip it as frequently.I used the Canson WC book for this. It is the PERFECT combination of a 'fine' nib with a waterproof ink that I can do a wash over.I will use it on Bee, Arches and Fluid and update if I find anything contrary to what I have stated above.

I didn’t mind that is was a little scratchy to write with on certain papers. In fact, I liked the feedback the pen gave making different marks. However, the tip broke really easily in my opinion. I didn’t even make it through my second sketch before I lost a chunk of the tip. I’m not even sure how exactly I broke it. It happened either while writing or while rinsing the pen in water?!? I could see if I dropped it, but no. It broke during use.

Works right the first dip, does feel little scratchy could just be the pen I got or it could be that the glass isn't rounded enough at the very tip. Either way still very please with my purchase.

Beautiful to look at, lovely to hold and a fine steady writer which holds plenty of ink on one dip. Not an everyday writing instrument but a good to have and use for special correspondence.

The pen itself is absolutely beautiful to look at. Mine had a few small bubbles in it, but they’re hardly noticeable so it doesn’t bother me. At first, it was a bit scratchy but i was too nervous to try sanding it so I just continued to use it for a while and sure enough it smoothed out beautifully. It’s very easy to write with and has excellent ink retention. I am able to almost fill an entire page without having to re-dip it. It also rinses out nicely once you’re done using it. Considering the low price, the bubbles and initial scratchiness are no inconvenience at all. People always compliment how beautiful it is when they see it. My only complaint is I wish it had a matching stand but those aren’t too hard to come across, so again not a real inconvenience. This would make a very gorgeous, thoughtful, and affordable gift for any writers you may know.

Really good quality dip pen. Works well with a variety of different inks. Hold the ink well, and you can get a good couple of sentences out of one dip.Comfortable to hold, even if using for a while. Never have to worry about replacing cartridges, or dried ink blocking the pen.

Good quality item. Not the most comfortable one I've used but still a great alternative
