I own a 2005 Softail Deluxe which emits an immense amount of heat from the engine... especially the right side where I have my stacked exhaust pipes. I've shopped all around for custom heat guards & couldn't find any for my model. Ended up getting some really fine custom leather ones from an online company and paid big bucks for it, just for my Harley mechanic to tell me that it's trapping too much heat around the top of the engine potentially causing things to overheat or melt, to say it loosely. So I opted for these and gave them a try hoping that they are smaller and enough air can get around the engine, but at the same time deflect enough heat from my right thigh. So far so good! I've ridden it in mid 80s degree temperatures for over 1000 miles and felt minimal heat. It deflects just enough to make riding absolutely comfortable and amazing.
