If you use the Moultrie Edge cellular camera then this solar panel will pay for itself in one hunting season. My Edge cameras were needing new AA batteries every other week. Depending on the brand of batteries, the cost was around $5 to $8 per camera every time I had to change them. That cost adds up quickly, especially when the batteries go dead and you're still paying for the monthly subscription.I've installed four of these panels so far. The cost savings is great, but the convenience of not having to take the time to swap batteries or worry about dead cameras is the real advantage.

Wha a piece of junk! Took 2 days to charge before 1st use. Placed in direct sunlight. Went dead after 2 days. Retrieved unit and brought back home to re-charge. Been plugged in now for 3 days and it is still not fully charged! Absolutely worthless! Seen others reviews about problems with this unit but decided to give it a try. What a waste of time and money! Reverted back to regular batteries. At least they work correctly.

I bought this for my 11yr old son, who was eating through my lithium batteries like crazy. One of the spots is limited sun but, a lot of activity. Not sure if him checking the app uses battery for the camera (it’s a cell one) but, he checks its NON STOP! We’ve had a lot of rain the last few weeks and his battery still shows 93%. I’m just a mom, my kid knows a lot more than I do about this kind of stuff but, it certainly has saved me money on the batteries and it was cheaper than the battery pack that I’ve gotten for his other cameras.

The solar packs are great for saving a lot of money on AA batteries. Moultrie uses 16 AA’s for every swap. Since switching to the solar packs, I have not bought any more AA batteries.

First off, I want to say that I read the reviews on this solar panel power pack and was very excited about getting this for my Edge 2 Pro camera because it was eating through 16-AA batteries in less than 72 hours. Now that being said, I didn't realize that having video and pictures enabled would eat through the batteries that fast. So, I changed the settings to picture only, 30 second detection delay, 3-hour updates and turned "on demand" off. My camera was taking on average about 200 pictures during the night which also contributed to depleting the batteries quicker. Now when I received the solar panel power pack both of them were completely dead and needed charging which was not a problem. I charged them both over night and went and deployed them the next day. This is where it gets interesting. Even though I charged them a good 12-14 hours and both of their indicator lights showed all fours lights which indicate a full charge, one displayed 96% and the other 46%. The one with 46% lasted about 2 days and was completely dead despite their being adequate sun to recharge the battery, which is why I went with solar. *Side note, make sure you read the fine print and the FAQ's about battery life, the info on the box is a marketing strategy only.* The other one that displayed 96% lasted a few days longer and despite having 8-9 hours of full sun, went dead with the last check-in showing 55%. That cameras last report was at 11:13 AM on 12/28/24 with 55% charge showing. It never reported again nor had recorded any pictures. I went today 12/29/24 to see what was going on with it and found the solar panel power pack completely dead. The other one that I went and pulled on 12/26/24, I brought home and charged it 48 hours before all 4 battery indicator lights would show. I went to deploy it today and it would not even power the camera. However, I found that the cable between the panel and camera is bad. I pulled both cameras and brought them home to troubleshoot and even though it was charged for 48 hours the camera only indicated that it has only 75% charge. I contacted Moultry about this issue and they said they have been getting a lot of complaints about these and wanted to escalate this issue to their product team. I have been giving them all my issues that I've found and I'm waiting to hear back. However, I'm sending these back for a refund as well as the Moultrie Edge 2 Pro cameras. I have a review on those as well and I wouldn't recommend them either. My brother in-law is using the Reveal Tactacam 3.0 and he hasn't had any issues with his cameras or solar panel power pack. He deployed his in October and hasn't touched them since. He's getting about the same amount of pictures if not more than I am at night. I bought my cameras on 12/9/24 and probably been to them on average 4-5 times per week since I got them changing out batteries and charging the solar panel power pack. I also compared my pictures to his and he has a cleaner crisper image at night and in the day than I do. My camera took picture of the back of my truck at approximately 15 feet away and you couldn't read the license tag because it was not very sharp or clear. I really wanted this to work but unfortunately it didn't for me. I know there are many reviews out there where people are getting good results but that wasn't my experience.

Expensive. Probably would have went with a different camera system due to the cost of all the components. You still need to replace batteries every 3 months or so.
