This map is essential if you are hiking in the Mount Rogers National Recreation Area. This NRA is a maze of intersecting trails. The map was quite helpful while planning the hikes we were going to do each day while trying to plan interesting loop hikes. I highly recommend this map.

These maps are very detailed. I planned out a three day horseback trip in the Mt Rogers National Recreation area with it. The mileage points and road crossings were very accurate

National Geographic has produced a valuable guide in this map...If you are out & about in this neck of the woods, don't leave home without it. Mount Rogers NRA + this map = miles of adventure, gorgeous scenery & solitude!

Fantastic map! Great details and the plastic material is durable and easy to use. Wish all maps were this good.

Durable material, good quality printing. Probably a fine map series for areas where the AT is the only trail going. But around Mt. Rogers, I found the scale of this map just too big (i.e., zoomed out too far) to use for daily navigation on the trail. You really need about 1:24,000 (1 inch to 2,000 ft) in an area that is so dense with trails and decisions about which way to go at a trail crossing. Fortunately the Mt. Rogers area has pretty good signage. We relied on that and a print off at ~1:30K from alltrails.com.
