National Geographic and the National Parks share a deep legacy dating back to the publication of an entire issue of National Geographic Magazine in 1916 titled 'Land of the Best'. That issue helped advocate for the creation of the National Park Service, later that year. Over the years, National Geographic has helped establish, preserve, or restore Sequoia, Katmai, Carlsbad Caverns, Shenandoah, Mesa Verde and Redwood National Parks. It has also publicized the parks through at least 500 books, articles, and maps, not to mention dozens of television documentaries.

National Geographic Trails is one of the best maps out there for those that orienteer the old school way. I worked at an outdoor store for years and these are ones I always recommended. I have hiked all over with them and have never had one tear or rip. They are easy to read and navigate, and I own one for every single place I have camped, hiked, hunted, or fished. Even with modern GPS, I always carry these maps and a compass as a back up.

I just used this map for a trek across the High Sierra Trail. Its helpful to have, but it does not account for switchbacks, and the mileage is much much more than it claims, in the key.

I love these maps. This is probably my 4th or 5th one. They have wonderful detail and are extremely durable. Barely affected by water. They are much more difficult to tear than paper quadrangles. While I also bring electronic maps, by preference is for the physical map as it is easier to see a larger, overall, picture. Would not go backpacking without one.

Purchased for and used on most recent trip; since most of the parks are no-road but trail access only, it's a great way to get a 'feel' for / 'grip' on the land, scale the mountains you're facing. It includes trail distances, broken down to markers, so you can calculate the time needed to get to your next stay / camp.

Lisibilité très bonne de la carte. Les itinéraires se distinguent bien sur le fond. La topologie est correctement restituée et les marqueurs d'étapes ou d'intersections de "trails" sont vraiment pratiques. Seul bémol : l'échelle est vraiment large, rien à voir avec le 1/25000 de l'IGN, c'est plutôt 1/80000 horizontal et les courbes de niveau sont en pieds bien sûr .Pensez à réserver votre wilderness permit sur le site du NPS si vous comptez bivouaquer ou bien tenter le mont Whitney !

This is a detailed map of the Sequoia / Kings Canyon area. If you have been to this beautiful part of the world, then this wipe clean map is a great reminder of your vacation..and of course of you plan to visit the area the map is an excellent companion. Try and rent a lodge and stay a few days to get the best out of the visit. I also have the National Geographical' map of Yosemite and Florida Everglades which are excellent quality too

Die Karte ist gut lesbar und enthält alle wichtigen Informationen. Ebenso hat sie den täglichen Einsatz auf einer mehrwöchigen Tour gut überstanden. Manchmal hatte ich Zweifel an der Genauigkeit, aber diese lassen/ließen sich nicht bestätigen.Der Maßstab ist zum wandern nicht ganz optimal, aber das war mir im Vorhinein klar und dafür kann die Karte auch nichts.

Ottima, al tatto sembra carta ma in realtà è di plastica, non si strappa e non di bagna. Solo un po' troppo grande, per comprendere tutto il parco le parti più frequentate sono veramente una piccola porzione della mappa.
