It fits my wooden pencils tightly but does not fit my mechanical pencils. This isn't necessarily a draw back, just a statement of fact. It holds the angle very well and makes circles easily and quickly. The weight of it and the length of the legs makes it effortless to use quickly and I'll definitely be using this far into the future.

Pros: 1. It's made of great quality material, super sturdy. I could literally throw this thing at a wall and it'd be in perfect condition. It feels solid and it's been great to use. 2. The points are sharp so it stays where you place it. I never have to worry about it moving or wobbling like I have with other plastic compasses in the past.Cons:1. There is a tightening screw to hold a pencil in place but the actual pencil holder is only useful for No.2 lead pencils. Any other pens or pencils any larger than a No.2 pencil I have to tape to the leg.2. Like I said in the "pros" section, the points are very sharp. This can be a good or bad thing depending on the material you're drawing on. IT WILL TEAR THROUGH PAPER. I am using it primarily on stretched canvas and still need to put down a couple small pieces of tape before I place the point down so it doesn't stab straight through.3. Useful for circles with a diameter larger than 2 inches but if you need anything smaller you run the risk of scratching your paper/canvas when the legs get too close together. I get around this issue by just using a different compass for small circles when I need them.Overall, it's a great tool for a specific purpose. I would absolutely buy it again, it'll last me forever.

I did a search on Amazon and read about the Mr. Pen Compass/Scriber. I needed to scribe a precise circle on sheet aluminum to be cut for a bandsaw table insert. With a heavy center punch and careful pressure it did a nice and accurate job of scribing a 2-1/2 inch circle for cutout. Well worth the cost for this drawing and scribing tool.

Has the basics of a quality tool but poor workmanship leaves it wanting. A shoddy weld fell apart after little use. Now my compass is dividers. Spend a few dollars more on a different product.

Went to use new product and couldn’t find the little screw on the bottom to tighten pencil. Was given a refund and an apology. Before I tossed the mailer it came in, I checked once more and it was there. Tiny. Requested refund to stop (don’t need any bad juju) and I’m quite happy with everything all the way around.

The compass works very good, keeps the measurements for wrapping guides onto custom fishing rods.

The compass seems very sturdy and mostly suitable for it's intended use. My only concern is the size of the pencil holder. It seems quite narrow for the pencils in common use. I haven't used it as yet but I'm sure I can modify the pencils if needed.
