The dominoes fit great and hold enough dominos for beginning a round of Mexican Train. There is a slight tilt in the slats where the dominos go, which is great so you can see what you have without tilting the holder by hand. They are also very lightweight and seem like they could break easily, but only time will tell. They "were" also plain wood. I'm not docking a star because I knew what I was ordering. I remedied it by asking my daughter to paint them for me. She did a flower theme on one set I ordered and a planet theme on the other.
