Tough forks. I used them to break my ball joints loose and pounded them with a hammer. They got the job done and took the abuse.

Perfect for home mechanics or DIY. With NO previous experience, my "practice" flares were nearly perfect and symmetrical, good enough to actually use. Built to tighter specifications than other cheap kits. This one is actually VERY good for the price. Plenty of clamping force - enough to mar the tubing, which is a good thing because you can always dial it back to reduce marring, vs. other cheap tools that let the tubing slip. Flares come out very even and well formed. Effort is moderate with good feedback. Seems durable enough for fairly regular use. Clamping force is just a bit uneven and at this price it would be nice to see standard and US double (inverted) flare tips, but overall a very good buy.

Did the job quickly on a thoroughly stuck tie rod end (2008 HHR). No more pounding on car parts. Did not even damage the tie rod boot which did not matter to me since I was replacing the tie rod end anyway. Great product. Looks like it will last a long time. Some commenters seemed to think the metal was too soft. This is as it should be. There was no damage to my soft aluminum steering knuckles. Better to damage an inexpensive and easily replaceable tool than an expensive car part. In any case, the tool held up just fine. Nice molded storage case included.

Bought this to do ONE bubble flare on a new brake line we made for my son's F150, The 6' long line was a double flare at one end and a bubble flare on the other end. Could not find any bubble flare kits for "loan" by local parts stores. The ones offered for sale appeared to be cheap/flimsy. With Prime, this kit arrived the next day and cost less than the part store models. Works like a charm. I only needed it to make one bubble flare but never having done one before, I did a series of practice ones first. Every one a winner. We were using it on the nickle/copper 3/16" brake line we got on Amazon. Used for his truck and had zero leaks. Follow the directions, watch a couple of videos on YouTube and you'll do fine. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN! It is not necessary and my son had borrowed a double flare kit we could not use because it had been over tightened by its owner which bent and "tweaked" the tool so it was not usable at all. We were able to get a "loaner" kit at AutoZone for the double flares. This kit seems much better quality than you would expect for the price. I have no problem recommending it. I cannot speak to its durability as we only did about a dozen flares but I think if you treat it right, could last for years. P.S. This kit is metric (normal for bubble flare kits) we used it on 3/16" line which is 4.75mm. Worked GREAT!

Judging by the grains of the metal, I’m pretty sure this whole set is metal injection molded. Nothing inherently wrong with that, as it’s becoming increasingly common, especially in power tool gearboxes and other applications in which the complexity of the various components means machining would be imperatively expensive. If I’m being completely honest, the metal doesn’t look or feel especially durable, but then consider that this tool is just for squeezing/winding caliper pistons back. It’s not exactly an intense application. If you were to break or damage this tool in use, you’re either really stupid and doing something horribly wrong or there’s a much more significant issue elsewhere, most likely a ceased caliper piston.Keep in mind some caliper pistons aren’t designed to be wound, even if they have the little slots to accommodate a winding action. In such a case, they’ll just bind up and not retract. The opposite is also true, some pistons will bind with a linear compression force and require winding much like a bolt. Make sure to try an adapter that does and does not result in a winding action. If neither work, make sure the vehicle doesn’t require some weird procedure you’re not privy to. I honestly can’t see a practical situation in which this tool would break, so if you manage to pull it off maybe consider having someone else, someone with an ounce of competence, repair and maintain your vehicle.Final note, there are other kits with more adapters out there. I chose this one because Nieko is generally considered a decent brand so I figured it was “safe.†Make sure it has the adapter you actually need before you buy it.

If you need a bubble flare on your brakes line, this is exactly the tool you need. I watched several YouTube videos that claim to show people using a double flare tool to achieve the same effect. That's hogwash. I tried it multiple times, and every time was a dismal failure. This tool is exactly what you need to create perfect bubble flares every time. I had struggled for more than an hour with a double flare tool on the advice of my local auto parts manager, but never could make it work well. This tool had me finished in minutes, no leaks no problems. Worth every penny, and comparable with a double flare tool in price.Hint: lubricate the die you're using and the end of the line with brake fluid before starting, and make sure the two halves of the clamp are parallel (lined up with each other).

If this review provides the info you need before buying, please consider marking it "Helpful", as that's very helpful for reviewers!Pros:- comes in a sturdy and handy carrying case, with the parts coated in a lightweight oil to prevent the parts rusting in storage.- all the different tools needed for the various different calipers which have pistons that have to be "wound in". Worked perfectly for my 10th generation Civic Si.Cons:- there ARE cheaper options out there, but hopefully as you are doing now, I consulted the reviews, and found these options had shortcomings, which thankfully it appears this set does not, as everything looks great!
