TIPS
This tool is for tie rods with smooth cylinder ends. The tool limitations are only related to the size of the part to be removed and will work on any rod that will fit between the top and bottom components with both 9/16” nuts screwed on and tightened.

I bought this after struggling with my tie rods on my 07 f150. I tried using AutoZone rental tool. No size for the inner tie rod. Tried using a crescent wrench and the tie rod was on so tight it was rounding edges without budging. Bought an S wrench to try to accomplish the same thing without anything budging. Finally I logged in to Amazon and looked up some tools. I ended up buying this one and got it next day. I used this and a breaker bar and finally broke the glob of red loctite they used on the inner tie rods. This tool will definitely stay in the toolboxes for stubborn inner tie rod tools. Admittedly I did not have high hopes for this tool, but it did exactly what I needed it to do and for that it was worth cheap price and one day wait.

This worked as designed. Pretty slick little tool that might see use for other things than tie rod removal.

Took some elbow grease, 2ft breaker bar with a breaker pipe and torch, with quite a few 3/8†impact extensions, but it broke it loose. I’d advise for the 1/2†tube that fits over for longetivity because there is already some damage. Cheap and works

Ok to start the problem with the tool it that the groves were not cut correctly thus the tool was smooth. And with this tool being smooth it would not grip the inner tie rod. Also the nuts were in poor shape, they would not stay tight. I will agree the price it cheap and that makes it attractive but its gambling if you get a good one then you're lucky . I on the other hand was not I had to return it and go to Auto Zone and get the exact same tool for a few bucks more. Now with that being said if the part you got is not smooth and it can grip it is a game changer simple to use makes removal fast you will need this tool and a long extension and braker bar. follow all safety rules and manufacturer specs and you will be fine. This tool for me and like others in the reviews is it was smooth and will not work need to have the grooves.

3/8 drive is a little light .. should be 1/2 drive so as to use a bigger ratchet w/some weight for really tight tie rods . The idea is good . I did manage to get it with an extension 3/8 dr , didn’t have adapter to go bigger , took a small cheater pipe on end of my rachet .

Tool worked exceedingly well when replacing the first tie rod of a 2011 F-150. Clamped down great, made it real easy to crack the rod loose, and only a few small witness marks on the tie rod where it bit in. It did no significant damage, so you could absolutely use this to tighten tie rods as well.As I was clamping the tool onto the second tie rod however, (using a 1/4" drive ratchet: no impact tools) the threads on the "U-Bolt" section tore out. Wasn't even tightening that hard. Due to the way it failed, It was still clamped on enough to crack the tie rod loose, but the tool is now completely unusable. No damage to the threads on the nuts, which tells me that the u-bolt is made from an inferior material or not hardened properly.The design of the tool is solid, it works. Be extra careful when clamping it into position, and you'll probably get some life out of it. Good price-to-performance when it works, worthy of a try, but don't plan for this to be a workhorse.

I first tried more expensive tie rod removal tools which soon broke and where not effective. I wish that i had bought this one first as it would have saved me a lot of time and money. The reason i didn't buy this one first is because it looks so simple and wrongly thought that the more expensive ones would be better. How wrong was I. This worked perfectly and will last for years.
