This worked -it took a bid of wiggling to get it seated well under the joint head but no issues from the tool. It prevents me accidentally bashing the control arm assembly in the ball joint area.

EDIT-updated from 2 star to 5 starI reached out to OMT directly about the broken tools and they responded quickly. They shipped out a replacement with a lead time "around 3-7 business days". It arrived the very next day.I was finally able to pull the pitman arm after 2 weeks of wrestling with it. It was rusted in place but these tools broke it free. I'm leaving my original review below for reference. I'm not sure if was user error or faulty tools, but OMT came through in the end.ORIGINAL REVIEW:Four of the five tools broke while using them. The 5th tool (separator) only survived because it wouldn't fit around any of the ball joints on my 1992 Toyota Century. The large claw puller was able to move the pitman arm down a few mm before cracking.I used an obscene amount of silicone grease on the threads. I didn't use an impact wrench. The joints have been sprayed with PB Blaster several times daily for about a week. I did everything I could to give these tools a fighting chance and they still broke. The large adjustable puller bent out of alignment on the first try. The arms are no longer even and do not sit flat making it useless. The bolt on the smallest puller sheared when I used a tube as a breaker extension. I had to use a hacksaw to cut it free. The large puller was the perfect size for the pitman arm. I went super slow with the tube extension, tightening a half turn or so before backing off, hosing the steering column down with penetrating fluid, and then tightening it again. Using this process, it moved a few mm before the claw snapped. I tried my luck separating the ball joint side of the pitman arm with the small puller. Using only a wrench (no extension) the claws began to bend backwards.I expected a little bit of a hassle when using these. Even one broken tool would've been understandable, but four? The metal used is of terrible quality. I do not recommend.

I actually thought I only wanted a couple items from the set, but I found that most of these were better quality than a couple similar tools that I acquired long ago. It's a good set of tools that came in handy while doing front end work.Despite the decent quality, there were some sharp edges that I filed down to prevent cuts, and some of the non-machined cast surfaces could have been nicer. I can't complain too much given the price, though. It is still a fair value.

Wow! If you’re having trouble separating your control arm from the ball joint get this kit. I tried my other tools to no avail. This kit has all you need and one of these in particular popped that or separated the two effortlessly. It’s because of its vertical design that makes it work so well. This is well worth the investment to keep in your tool arsenal.

I bought these tools when replacing front suspension on my car.Worked like a charm - separating ball joints, and shocks removal.I had a problem to find pullers of specific size to fit working space around these joints on my car(MB S-Class), and these pullers worked like a charm.Very solid, sturdy design. Not cheap, but I guess worth the money.

Just what I needed to remove some ball joint assemblies on the vehicle. The box is good for storage than loose tools in the tool box.

It says high quality but as I was using the ball joint separator, the pin that holds the jaws together bent. It couldn’t free the ball joint either. Will be returning and getting a better quality product.

Replacing CV axle joints on my wife's Acura TL. Could not get lower ball joint to pop out no matter what I did so I bought this set. I like that the case has sliding locks rather then the snap type that seem to always break off. It was complete and secured in the blow molded case. The puller castings are definitely not as smooth as shown in the Amazon ad. Pretty rough in places but not a big deal. The threaded steel rods seem a bit sloppy. They did thread freely from top to bottom. Before I used them I took the advice of others and greased the threads. The only puller I was able to use was the long jaw piece. The center puller may have damaged the boot. Anyway, I attached the last puller and snugged it tight. I then gave it one more turn and again at the advice of another buyer I just lightly tapped the wrench end and it popped right out. It did the job I needed it to and hopefully will work as well on my next project. So far so good!
