This will make it inconvenient to steal your tailgate. A great tactic in a hopefully layered security approach. You can also add a locking latch that is also available from Amazon.

The only issue I have with this item is the instructions. They aren't terribly clear. The item itself works great, though!

I think it would do the job. It was a little tight to put on. Perhaps it would be better to add a little grease around the ring to slip it on.
