Has been on for 3/4 of a year now without giving me any trouble. Not sure how it would perform if someone tried to "fool" with it but so far haven't had any issues like that.

The videos show this goes in place in a couple minutes. That wasn’t my experience, however. I have an 07 Dodge Ram 1500. I ended up taking the tailgate latch handle out and taking it down to my shop. The tolerances were very tight and I had to make some small adjustments to get it in. I used some needle nose pliers and a a dremel tool to file down a couple spots so I could get it in. It did go in after some frustrating tries. I do like how secure it looks. I read some reviews that said it could be yanked out with a good tug. I don’t think so on my truck. The lock was smooth and locked easily. I am sure if someone wanted to get the tailgate open, they could do it but I believe in deterrents and this will be a deterrent. There will be easier trucks to break into. I would buy again, but the videos were a bit misleading, at least in my case.

The only issue I found was that it was a bit tricky to get it installed- but I was good with that as its supposed to be a lock- so it should be a snug fit. I have found that its not as easy to open the tailgate anymore with this in there- you have to make sure your putting more "pressure" on the area where the lock is so that you don't chance breaking the handle. All that's a non factor or worry for me as I wanted this to secure my tailgate and it did. Granted if someone really wanted my tailgate this wont stop them- but this will stop your casual thieves which is what the majority of folks would be. I was also happy that the label is a sticker that you can choose to use or not to use.

I like that this fit my 2006 Dodge Ram tailgate handle but it is just "okay". I read the reviews that stated with a good jerk of the tailgate, it could still be opened. They are right. Yes, I still ordered and installed it because it was better than the alternative....which was nothing. I have a cover over the bed of my truck, and with this lock, it will be a deterrant for the "casual" thief but if someone seriously wants in the bed of the truck, this lock will not stop them. The plastic lock pieces just aren't strong enough. So I guess as long as you understand its limitations then it's a decent purchase for the price. Just don't expect Fort Knox protection!

This seems like a great product but I tried and tried, this would just Not fit under my 2004 Dodge 2500 tailgate latch. I watched a number of videos and it seems I either was sent the wrong lock or my latch handle from the factory had a tighter tolerance that would not allow the lock to fit under it.

my 2008 dodge 3500 tailgate lock was jam packed with years of god knows what. also no key. 8 torx bolts on inside of tailgate to pop off the panel, two 8mm nuts to remove entire tailgate handle, giving access to rear of handle, to pop off/out the previous lock (pliers to cinch the metal catches made removal easy), clean, pop new lock into place, two nuts on, panel and bolts on. voila. i am so glad it was actually so easy. 5 stars for easy, 3 or less for value... i mean come on.... it's a small uncomplicated lock, it's a lot of money for what it is, but i needed one, so there ya go.

Es muy buen producto, mejor invertir en un seguro de la tapa, ya que es recurrente el robo de partes, pueden llevarse las calaveras, tirantes y en si hasta la tapa, es mejor invertir un poco y evitar eso
