What makes up a tie rod end?

  • A Tie Rod End is a part of the steering system, there are inner tie rods and outer tie rods.
  • An outer tie rod end is connected to each front wheel spindle
  • An inner tie rod end is connected to the steering rack or steering gear box assembly

OEM MPN's: 5B4-23841-00-00

What are tie rod ends?

  • Tie rod ends are the meeting point between a vehicle’s steering rack and steering knuckle
  • The rod end not only provides the force from the steering rack to the wheels, but it also provides a pivot point for the steering to maintain its geometry

OEM MPN's: 5B4-23841-00-00

Why / When to change tie rod ends?

Why change Tie Rods Ends ?

  • Due to the extreme forces put on your ends, they can wear out and cause your steering to get bad.

When to change Tie Rod Ends?

  • First, if you can turn the wheel a small amount without any response from the steering system
  • If your vehicle makes a squeaking sound when you turn the wheel, a worn rod end will make a short, high-pitch squeak

I Bought these because of the price, they did not last for 1 ride , on trial the first 1 broke a mile or 2 later the second 1 broke, put the old 1 back on , still working, old 1 just had wear , luckily tie rod broke going slow ,could've been bad

I used these tie rod ends on a Linhai Bighorn UTV. Needed to drill the hole in the steering arm a little bigger and drilled a hole higher up on the treaded bolt for the cotter pin to hold the castle nut.

These tie rods lasted three rides. One broke 35km from town and the other is worn out and I don’t think it would last another ride. Waste of money.
