We thought that this composting toilet would be great for our nomad lifestyle. It's not. Urine somehow gets into the main compartment no matter how careful we are.UPDATE...we repositioned the urine oder trap and now there is no leaking. We changed our rating from one star to five!

I was looking for something for a tiny house Prices and options are all over the place. I didn't want to spend a ton of money, but I didn't want to deal with smells either. I read that separation of the pee from the poo is what does the trick. It sure does work, a long with the shrunk wrap medium that comes with. That seems to last awhile but I've ordered more and some compost toilet bags. Only one suggestion. It could be about 6 - 10 inches taller or sell a base to go with it if needed. I'm not a tall person but it's very low.

Toilet very well built, very sturdy. Simple, well designed setup, with flat surfaces, gently radiused corners, a very thick bottom plate for weight and rigidity. Installed in an old Casita Deluxe 16 footer, black tank directly below toilet converted to gray water / urine tank, doubling gray water capacity. Found a compost bucket (Leaktite 2 gallon at HD) that fits, with minimal mods to one side of bucket. Urine diverter plumbed to black tank with 3/4 inch pvc fpt, mpt and slip couplings, with a 1 inch slip to 3/4 inch mpt reducer to mate to urine diverter. Made toilet mounting plate from 1/2 plywood, sealed 4 inch lav hole with 1/2 inch neoprene. WORKS MUCH BETTER THAN EXPECTED. Keep lid closed when not in use, no nasty smells!!!!!!!

It's ok, the plastic lid was warped so it doesn't close properly, it's also very small. So it can only be used a couple times before needing to be emptied. If it had a bigger pee tank and solids area and not warped it would be a great product

There are so many different kinds of camp toilets. This is one of the basics, collecting urine separately in a bottle, and using pea tmoss or other compostables for the solid wastes. It's not for those who want a completely one-n-done experience. Let's face it, we're spoiled. There is nothing better than the old-fashioned flush toilet in your home. But if by choice or by necessity you need an alternative, this ticks all the bases. It came with some coconut fiber and some bags; you may want to buy extra if you're camping for a long period of time. There are treatments to minimize the urine smell, you can look these up with RV accessories, or you can use a bit of bleach to tame the odor, which isn't very noticeable at all as long as you keep the lid down. Some of the guys may think they can just do their business in the woods, or in a bucket, but remember ladies have other needs, and this will take care of the lady campers who don't mind roughing it a little. Pricey? Yeah, a little. But it was what we needed, and it should last us as long as we should ever need it.

The only complaint I have is you have to sit very specifically or pee gets into the bag part.

the main body seems ok. spare hinges included. (so they know that they will brake due to bad design) the hinge will brake if pressure is applied to lid when its up the tabs to hold the bag are missing making somewhat nascence to use. unable to contact to get the parts shipped
