I bought these whistles to put on our avalanche bags just in case there was an emergency. I really appreciate the color, and the durability. The sound is great. We will need to try it out after they get moist and wet from snowmobiling all day. Happy with the lanyard and thankful for a product that can like likely save a life.

Yep, they are loud, really loud.They seem to be well made and they have held up well on the keychains of my family members. And they certainly catch your attention when someone blows them which is pretty much the only requirement of a whistle.So if you need a really loud whistle, then this is a very good purchase to make.

I have given away lots of these. They are perfect for an alarm whistle to carry in case of distress. I travel worldwide and have shared this idea to carry one with many young women as they go on International trips, or just walk around town!!!

This small whistle is very loud!Pros: - Its compact size makes it great for using while hiking, biking, or any outdoor activity.I like the fact that it is made out of aluminum and even comes with a lanyard. - Shipping was fast and had a pleasant experience with the seller.Cons: - On the downside, while the whistle can be ear-splittingly loud, its just that; ear-splittingly loud. The sound reverberates directly into your eardrums because the bevel of the whistle is pointed directly at the user.Overall, I give this whistle (set of whistles, to be precise) 4/5 stars: 4 stars for the quality of the aluminum, small form factor, and very loud whistle sound (since the loud whistle can hurt your ears, I deducted one star). For $8 it is a little overpriced, but you do get two whistles in the package, which is nice.

While reading a list of what to have in your 'go bag' that is prepacked for emergencies, one of the itemssuggested is a whistle. One is now in my go bag, the other on my keys. Great for protection or any situation where you may need help or to be found. I will be buying more to give as gifts... a gift of LOVE and protection. Everything good about keeping SAFE! BTW.... these whistles are light weight. Be well and stay SAFE! PEACE!!!

Not good for an emergency type of situation. The classic old school whistles from gym class are ten times louder. This is a great looking design but is way too quiet in my opinion.It would probably cost more to manufacture and drive the price up, but if they beveled out the shape inside better and added a tiny ball bearing inside of each “lung†of this whistle, I think it would be ten times louder. Just copy the classic whistle geometry for the shaping of the inside, shrink it down turn it sideways and clone the process on the other side so it’s symmetrical. The ball bearing will help intermittently create pressure buildup, causing a vibrating shriek like old school whistles. This sounds like annoying loud air. It’s loud. Would interrupt a busy coffee shop. Would not trust it if I needed to alert with noise.I could see it being useful if you want something that is portable, and you don’t need it super loud. Perhaps as a noise deterrent while hiking.

Whistle is loud, when it works. It's not all metal but has some internal parts that are plastic. Those parts can come loose, breaking the whistle. This happened to us after a few days. It also comes with a lanyard that snaps at the slightest tug. Do not rely on this product to work.
