This composite cork is ok if the wine is used in less than 3 monthsHere’s what happens. Bottle your red wine. Store it horizontally. The wine begins to permeate the cork. It goes unnoticed for about 3 months. At 6 months you can begin to see the darkness in the cork. I did nothing. At 12 months I test opened a bottle with an ordinary common cork screw. The cork broke as seen in the photo. What you see is the top 75% of the cork. 25% of the cork stayed in the bottle. It’s still in the empty bottle. The wine has been poured onto the lawn.Ok seems very bad, but. You could stand your bottles up at 3 months. The cork will not, maybe, dry out as it is permeated with wine. So this composite cork, very inexpensive might work. For me, having, now, poured out many bottles onto the lawn will buy a solid cork made of one piece, not composed of tiny pieces. Lesson learned. When folks say “experience counts†I get it. Also “you get what you pay forâ€.

I am on my 80th batch of homemade wine and these are the best corks I’ve come across. I order them every three batches and the quality from the ones that have been in bottles for years are just as good as the ones I pop in with the new batches. Absolutely would recommend. Never had any leakage because the seal is so tight but easily to get in because they’re the perfect size for a wine bottle. That is, other than the leakage that happens when I take the cork out. But that’s another story.

They work well with my floor corker and don’t have any problems removing them when uncorking. They are not the best grade so I wouldn’t trust them with wine that will be stored for more than a year. This is great for affordable corking for wines that will be consumed within the year.

Very straightforward, standard cork. This is a pretty generic product so it's mostly hit or miss, I guess. A cork is a cork. There are synthetic corks and higher quality ones, sure, but that's not what I ordered. For what it is, it does a fine job and I am not using it to store things for 20 years. If I were, I'd go with something else like synthetic or a different quality one. For stuff you intend to drink within a two or three years of bottling, this is fine and will suit your needs. Not much else to say... I mean, it's a cork. You throw it away after you're done with and move on with life lol

These corks are soft enough to fit the bottles well and come out in one piece. (Last set I bought from another seller on Amazon were hard and very dry. They broke when being uncorked)
