My guy needs work boots that are light weight, do not have to be tied, with a good arch support. The reviews on these boots were mostly 5 stars. I read every review. The zipper and the reviews were the deciding factor. After he has a chance to wear them, I will update.

Sizing was accurate. I normally wear a 10.5 and these fit fine. I would recommend a thicker than normal sock though for a good fit. There was plenty of arch support. Good heel and ankle support in front and in back. I noticed a little bit of stretch in the laces after initial day of wear but a simple tightening of the laces and a double knot and I used the fast zipper entry going forward. They had some terrific padding on the heel and I could definitely feel the extra cushion on my heel when standing. They were light weight boots which were comfortable for me to wear all day. Each boot weighs only 18 3/8 oz. (523 grams).I use these as regular day use boots. There is decent tread to keep from slipping and support/rubberized guard is over 3cm high so walking through shallow puddles will not be a concern. It was frustrating when parking to get out of the car after a rain only to notice I am standing in a puddle. No worries with these boots.I do like a bit more tread with dirt trail and mountain hiking boots but these could work if needed.I will have to do an update after our trip to Disneyland to see how comfortable they are after standing up for 12-14 hours of a day.UPDATE: Wore these during a trip to Disneyland. Standing in line for extended periods I was very appreciative of the heel cushioning. If you have a lot of standing in your future, these are good boots.

I know, I know, it's always durability or comfort...it's really hard to get both. But, I wore these for about 8 hrs last Saturday, drove for 4 hrs, walked around Home Depot, loaded stuff in the trailer, walked around with my wife running errands, etc. I would say these will need a little bit of time to loosen up the laces near the toe or front of the boots. As I wore them, I could feel them loosening up a bit as the day wore on. But, those laces were a little loose near the front. That made it a little difficult to slip on or off just opening the side zip. That might just be me and I'll need to spend more time, break them in, and get used to them.Comfort - again I didn't do a ton of walking, but I'd rate it 4 out of 5. I have a bone spur on my left big toe, so I just have to manage the level of pain. I felt these did a good job of minimizing rubbing and soreness. I had no issues after taking them off or the next day.Fit - I think these fit okay. I'd rate 3/5. They could be a little more snug, I'd say these were a tad loose around my foot. But, I've got sort of boney feet with my toe...I'm a mess...okay it's not about me! lolAesthetic - I think the boots look good. They look like something I could wear doing work, or just lounging around. I do NOT like having my heels/bottom of my feet elevated (I hate fat or tall soles). So, I'd say they're a 3/5.Overall I give it 4/5. They're lightweight and I really like that. I hate heavy, clompy boots.

These are serious boots. Mine are still outside on the porch 'off-gassing' as they smell as if they were just freshly painted. I hope the smell will dissipate in a few days. They seem to be very well made, and made from solid materials. They came with paper bunched inside so they would be able to maintain their shape, which is very nice. As I've ordered other shoes that have arrived forever swished.Normally I will order an 11.5 because my feet are wide, and the extra half size provides room for my toes. But with these boots, 11.5 were not available to me, so I ordered size 11 and crossed my fingers. Well, size 11 is definitely not too small for me, and my toes have plenty of room (too much?) to wiggle around. I am wondering whether I should have ordered a size 10.5. My hunch is that these boots may be half to one size larger than my other boots. When I wear these, I could swear I am an inch or two taller, which is okay but takes me some getting used to.Once on, they tighten up nicely, but initially the laces require some work to get them to cinch. I expect that will be resolved through further use. I especially like the treads as they do not collect gravel as some of my other shoes do. There is some arch support, but it feels fairly minimal. If you really need it, probably best to insert your own.Although the images of the boots make it look as though the bottom portion with the sole sticks way out beyond the rest of the boot, this is not actually the case. The bottom may stick out a bit, but it does not look weird or seem excessive.

I have to admit I was not familiar with shock absorbing midsole material: E-TPU, so I looked it up to find out why it makes for such a comfortable wearing experience. Expanded-Thermoplastic Polyurethane, replaces the standard athletic shoe midsole of EVA, this new material is lighter and has much better give and energy return. The outsole is a durable composite with a tread pattern for those who work on tile or concrete floors. The upper material is a heavy duty canvas ducking material that seems to be highly abrasion resistance. There is a pad at the Achilles tendon that cradled the back of the foot, that is connected to the pull tab. The side zipper seems well made, moves easily, and is backed by a water and debris resistant flap. The interior is lined with a soft and breathable fabric. Even the insole cradles the foot and adds to the comfort of the boots. The lacing system makes it easy to snug up the fit and the whole thing is as easy on the feet as a high end athletic shoe. There is a perceivable bounce back effect at both the heel and the forefoot. These may not be the best choice for hiking in rough terrain or construction site but they are great for indoor work. The sizing is just a touch big, so if you are going up a half size for a heavy sock that will be right. With no negatives to report, these boots are highly recommended.
