I have bought these multiple times. At first, it was to legitimately keep heavy books upright. Then I started using them to keep boxes from falling off shelves. Then I started using them to keep some equipment from falling over. They're sturdy, large, easy to clean, and I've had no issues with the nonslip material on the bottom.

These are weighty, have a deep, padded bottom, and don’t take up any extra space on the shelf. I have some large text books along with paperback all in the same row. Solid. I’m ordering more.Also, if you larger, heavy books close enough to be on the bottom plate, it’s all the more sturdy.

I recently bought a folding 3-tier bookcase, and while it will take a great deal of weight, I didn't notice that the way it's designed, there's no way to keep the books from falling off the sides of the top and bottom shelves, and even the middle shelf is a bit iffy. Dumb me :-P Since I have a lot of seriously heavyweight books (for example, huge backbreaking textbooks and full-up binders) that need to go on the bottom, I must have looked through every bookend on Amazon... and I was lucky to find these. Now nothing is tumbling off my bookcase, sides or no sides, and I love not only the sturdy weight, but also the height. They are absolutely no-skid, with a rubbery pad covering the whole bottom, not just a couple of sticky dots.I just purchased a second set because they do the job so well. Yes, there are cheaper bookends out there, but these are definitely worth the price.

I would not call them "decorative" that's for sure. But they hold big heavy non fiction books properly and do not slide around. They're extremely rugged but also quite heavy.

6/5 Stars! These bookends are heavenly. I searched far and wide for minimalist but not industrial looking bookends. What I wanted were ones that blend in, but if they do happen to be seen they have some style to them. I never knew there would be so many terrible designs to wade through!In addition to looking for a specific style, I was also looking for something very heavy duty / sturdy to keep books from hurling themselves high off of some floating shelves. I was sick of one book in particular starting to get ruined from high diving and the adjacent walls also taking collateral damage. Since some of my books are really heavy, the bookends themselves had to be tough.This set of bookends is perfect. I tested them out with a huge stack of heavy books and the ends didn't budge or bend. Even better, they have a nice foam backing on the bottom protecting the wood of my shelves from being scratched. They don't slide around either.The best part of all about them is that even though they're sturdy, they're very thin. When you stick books on them, there isn't a gap underneath them making it obvious that there's something holding the books up. The bookend are 6.5" each in width. On one of my top shelves, I have just two books on top of one of these bookends. The two books together are less than 6.5" but since I have the bookend pushed back a bit on the shelf, you can't see part of the empty bookend sticking out. You don't even know that the bookend is there unless you view it from the side (see pictures of side and front angles). Let me say that after seeing these in person, I wouldn't mind using them in other places where they could be seen.I have used these to hold up my Jim Kay Deluxe Illustrated Harry Potter Book collection. Each book is over 15x12" (huge).. I put the bookend between two of the books and you'd never even know it was there, but it helps to hold the books up (before I put the end in between the books they were leaning and I was really worried). The bookend and the books haven't moved an inch in almost a year, and they are over 8 pounds each... this one bookend is holding up almost 35 pounds of books. Whew!!!The packaging was good. Surprisingly, there was tissue paper between the bookends to keep them from scratching against each other and rubbing off finishing. They were wire-tied together and came in perfect condition.The only negative I found was the price. Ended up costing almost $9 for each bookend. I wondered if I was crazy spending that much on ends that people won't even see? But considering that I won't have books committing leap of faith jumps anymore, I've made peace with the cost. I definitely will buy these again.

I gave 4 stars because they're a little bigger than I thought they'd be, but that was my choice. These bookends are extremely sturdy and perfect for holding large, heavy books upright. They stay in place and I doubt they'll ever bend from the weight of the books.

Used to store and display record albums. Very good size for record storage, and quite sturdy due to a much heavier grade of metal, used in its construction, compared to smaller lightweight bookends.

My minimalist husband was looking for some decent bookends, and I found these. They're GREAT. They've been able to hold all of the university textbooks he refuses to get rid of. They hold really well at the bottom, so no slip.I wish they came in a shorter size for smaller books, but even still, because they're so minimal, they don't look too bad. Worth it!

I always hate bookends as they tend to be flimsy and don't hold heavier books up properly. These however are perfect. They are a bit expensive but for the quality and weight of them this isn't an issue. They are large bookends but this holds books up well and also look nice. Very functional book ends. Will be buying more.
