Relay switches (also called an electrical relay or an electrical relay switch) use a small amount of power to control a larger source of power connected to electrical devices such as car motors, computers, and lighting installations. A basic relay switch has a control circuit with an electromagnetic coil and a load circuit with contacts and a lever. When current flows into the relay switch, it moves through the coil and a magnetic field is created, which causes the lever in the load circuit to move between contacts, either turning the device on or off. In a normally open (NO) relay switch, when power is supplied to the relay, the load circuit is closed and the power source connected to the relay is turned on. In a normally closed (NC) relay switch, when power is supplied to the relay, the load circuit is open and the power source connected to the relay is turned off. In other types of relay switches, non-moving parts such as transistors or semiconductors can be used as the control circuit to operate the switching mechanism. Relay switches can be controlled with an external switch, such as a light switch, or they can be connected to an automatically switched power source, such as a car ignition. One relay can operate multiple switches, and multiple relays can be operated with a single switch, with each relay operating independently from the other relays in the system.

Omron manufactures and distributes electronic components, equipment, and systems for industrial automation. The company, founded in 1933, is headquartered in Kyoto, Japan.

I'm using this relay to control a humidifier on a furnace. It works as designed. The "test button" requires a firm press... I initially used the button to test the relay fresh out of the package with a multi-meter continuity test, which gave me problems initially. But since the test button is not something that will be used often, I'm not worried. When powered by 24 VAC, it works fine. It's a low mA coil, and the activation is quiet and reliable. The size of the relay makes it easy to mount, and hopefully indicates heavy duty contacts.

Easy plug and play replacement for the relay in the Orbit box, and made it possible to get my irrigation system running without having to buy the entire box for $50-$60. Also much easier than undoing the conduit and mountings for the box. It only takes a couple of little screws to swap the relay, and move the terminals one at a time to the new one.Worked perfectly for only about $20

Fit perfect in an orbit sprinkler pump relay box. Saved having to replace the box and change out all the conduit fittings. Up and running pump under $20.

It was the exact replacement.

After replacing it, the water pump still tries to start, and most of the time, the hummmmmmm, and sometimes it starts, and in 4-5 seconds it does not start, it turns off, and I hear a click in the relay box. Same before I replaced it. I got this because of the reviews. Returned it.
