This is a good quality remote start switch. It has a comfortable grip and a positive press button, nice 5' long leads which are well insulated, decent spring clips with proper soldered connections, and a red indicator light to show the circuit is hot. The leads are also separate, the switch mechanism I'll bet has a good power rating, and there's even a 'use only in neutral' warning near the button ha. OTC think of everything. This is a high quality tool which should last a very long time when used correctly on starter motor solenoids (don't connect it to ground, or inline between battery and main starter motor terminal, across the battery terminals, etc). Not sure what 'Made in USA with globally sourced components' really means, but I'm pretty sure those components are from China like most everything else OTC. Still a good tool for a good price, so I'm not complaining. A guard for the press button (like Snap-On) would have been nice though.btw. remote starter switches are mostly not used to actually 'start' an engine, but just to crank it over eg. when performing a cylinder compression test. They are not really intended for inching a crankshaft around to set valve clearances (but if that works for you.. fine).Recommended for sure.

Four stars because the clip is strong which is good except it requires strong fingers to open. I am not sure why they don't design it with longer grips to give it more leverage to open the clip. The remote starter works well once the clips are on solenoid and the + terminal of the battery.

I am a mechanic and my last one was probably 25 years old and needed a new one. I hope the quality is as good as my first one. I have mistakenly connected it to ground and positive and overloaded it in other ways many times and it still lasted 25 years. This isn't something that sits in my box and is rarely used. I use it at least twice a week and sometimes everyday depending on what work is coming in. Expensive? 25 years is 1300 weeks. If I used it once a week it would be a fraction of a penny per use.

Newer cars this might not work but unless you are a mechanic you understand how this works easy to use on most older vehicles the price is a bit high for and old tool. But having remote stater ability is great when working alone

Durable design with thick insulated cable. Support American businesses and get one! No need to disconnect the ignition or fuel delivery system to test compression, starter output, or any other tests that require the engine to turn over. Most automotive diagnostic tests that require turning the engine require disconnecting the fuel system at the fuel pump relay and the relay is designed to only be disconnected a few times before needing to replace the entire relay fuse box. Using a remote starter switch (and removing the keys from the ignition) means bypassing the fuel and ignition systems to turn the engine over. Makes life much simpler without having to risk breaking the relay cover or disconnection the ignition coil connection.

This item did it's job. You hook one end up to the cylinder & the other end up to the alternator hit the button and it started right up. It's bypasses everything between the ignition and the starter but don't do it to many times cause it will burn out something. This is just a good to the mechanic so you can see what's going on & why your car, pick-up truck, or what I used it for was my semi-truck to see why it won't start. This saved me from calling a tow truck for my semi. BTW the tow would've been a 2-3hr wait then 400-500 tow. So is it worth $47 for this product?

Very nice, heavy duty switch nice long cords with sturdy clips. I like the feature of having a red led illuminated when it's hooked to power and ground so you can see that you've got a secure connection. Definitely a good purchase!

Solid again for an OTC Product. Took along time to decide whether to buy these or try Sealey or other brands. Glad i chose OTC. Would buy again.
