Worked great to separate an idler arm (BMW E38), from the tie rod, that was just a little too small for a standard fixed pitman arm puller. I thought that the reach of the pressing bolt would be a little too short, it only had about 3 turns of thread to push. It separated the joint in about 1.5 turns past finger tight. I tightened the jaw closing screws with a wrench, tightly, to make sure it wouldn't slip.My fixed jaw puller would flex and slip off. None of the pullers in my low cost front end service kit, from the chain low cost tool store, would work on this joint. This is a good, heavy, solid puller.

Great tool worked flawlessly. I replaced the two bolts with grade 8 fine thread bolts, to avoid any problems that I was reading about in other reviews.

The bolts with the wing nuts stripped on mine so I had to get new bolts for it but once that was done it worked perfectly. It is a much better design than those without bolts as I had one of those that ended up bending and breaking

OTC makes some really decent tools. I've bought a couple of their tools and they're very well made. This tool may cost a little more than some but for a reason. It lasts and does the job. Don't waste your money on something cheap, like I did. OTC tools will get the job done over and over again. This one does not bend or slip off the balljoint or tie rod ends, like cheaper versions.

Working on changing out the front springs on a 2007 GMC Denali 4WD and was not able to pull the yoke off the Right front champered bolt. For what ever the reason the left side did come apart but broke the two jaw puller I had used on the Right. This little item was plenty strong and after the 2nd attempt the yoke popped right off!! No Complaints here.

working on a 46 year old car. Chances are I am the 1st to try to remove the Pitman Arm. Some SiliKroil and this tool removed it. I am not sure when I will ever use it again, too bad they don't have a loan a tool program. They make a heavy duty and a super duty version. Only thing I dislike, and I am sure it is Amazon. But they do not give you good measurements of this tool. It was easy to tell that the super duty version was bigger, but how much bigger? Is it wider and taller than this one? My plan was to start with this one, then return it if it did not fit and keep doing that 'til it worked. I guess we both got lucky.

Worked perfectly, but like others said get grade 8 bolts. My other puller had the arms bend, this one didn't even flex

Forged parts are top quality, and well finished. The clamp bolts are another story. The stretched to the point of one failing during the first use. A quick trip to the Fastenal Store for better quality hardware made everything right, and the puller has performed flawlessly ever since.Don't cheap-out on the hardware, OTC.
