We bought a replacement egg slicer at a local store a few months ago - it was lightweight and the cleaning instructions cautioned to hand wash it. After using it once weekly for that time, the flimsy wires stretched (never realized that hard cooked eggs were so tough). We went back to the solidly built OXO slicer which is dishwasher safe, solid feeling, and has no trouble slicing our eggs. As with other OXO utensils we have purchased, this does the job and seems like it will last.

Right now I think this deserves a 1 , but I’m giving it a 5, because nobody reads the “1†reviews. Bought this on August 20, 2022. It worked great until today! Yesterday it worked great. Today 2 wires broke- it’s “busted†, there’s no way to repair it. We didn’t use daily. My husband used this to dice his eggs. He cut them one way, then the other way we did this for a dozen eggs about once a month. Today I put one egg in it and it broke, pop , 2 wires came out! Now it is junk! I paid $12 for this, that’s too much for only 11 months of use . OXO can do better!

Who knew finding an egg slicer would be difficult. I didn't. Last time, I grabbed a cheap one and thought, hey, it's wires and plastic, it cuts eggs. What can go wrong? Lots of things. Lots of things can go wrong.When my old one bit the dust...the shell? (Idk. There's a joke in there somewhere.) I went online and read approximately 234857312 reviews looking for a replacement. And I settled on this, despite the fact it seemed terribly expensive. (It is just wires and plastic after all!)However, this is a really, really, REALLY good egg slicer. All the eggs I've tried fit. You close the slicer. BAM! perfect slices. Nothing gets stuck in the wires or where the wires meet the plastic. You don't get that annoying thing where it just can't quite cut all the way through the egg and you end up with a millimeter of it interconnected that you're trying to chop up by hand. It slices all the way through and cleanly. Speaking of cleanly, it super easy to clean. Like. Really. Easy. To. Clean.Stop reading 234857312 reviews and just buy this one. It works. It works well. It's worth the extra cash.

The egg slicer that I bought at the grocery store broke after the first use (two wires came off), so I was back in the market for a new one. I didn't realize it would be so hard to pick a new one, as there are so many different options on Amazon, all with seemingly a few drawbacks.Eventually I set on this OXO and, after a couple of weeks of usage, I have to say that it has been performing quite well. It is a fairly sturdy thing, albeit on the large side. It is quite comfortable to grip, and the rubber at the bottom makes sure that it does not skid on your counter and stays put when you use it.Slicing eggs is a breeze: you plop the egg in place, pull the handle down and the wires slice it neatly. Make sure you don't go too fast and apply a moderate and steady pressure as you don't want to bend the wires and make your new purchase useless. Once sliced, you can also turn the egg 90 degrees and give it another go to dice it, if you want smaller pieces for a salad or other use.I have only used it on eggs and not on fruit like strawberries, so I cannot comment on how well it works on those scenarios. Cleaning is not as easy as I would like, as I only wash it by hand and there are a few places that are hard to reach (you may want to use a small brush or a toothbrush). Be careful when cleaning the wires because, even if they look quite sturdy, in my experience it doesn't take much to pull them out of place or bend them, at which point the slicer is useless.So far, I am satisfied with it, and hopefully it will last.

This thing is very well-made compared to others, it’s also a bit oversized so if you’re like me and like to turn the egg sideways and slice it again for salads, it works very well and is dishwasher safe

Well made egg slicer. Easy to use. Egg can be placed in one direction, sliced, then turned to slice cross-wise. No more fork mashing for egg salad!

It works well. Apparently it is only good for slicing eggs. I tried it on mushrooms and broke many of the wires.
