These are good 50 pin IDC connectors. I used them to make my own internal scsi cable.I used a hand press tool for IDC connectors and it was relatively easy to compress them.You do need to start from the middle to start it and keep the ribbon cable from moving.Then go from side to middle to side. I was able to get a good connection by doing it that way.

Just as temperamental as much higher priced connectors its the nature of flat ribbon cable building.
