I needed a parallel port on my new computer for my old printer.I'm running Linux Mint 21.2 with kernel 5.15.0-84The included mini CD had flaws so not all files could be read, but the linux source files were all there with instructions to compile. Thankfully compiling the driver wasn't necessary. My operating system handled the new board as is. Basically it was plug n play.

Shows up in super OEM looking plain box but product worked OK. Drivers come on a CD so I had o hunt around for an old USB CD drive to load them. I would have preferred a simple link to go download the drivers, would be great to put that as the first line of product description right on Amazon. I'm not sure if windows 10 would have found the drivers online if I let it to but instead I pointed it to the COMLPT directory on the CD and it installed 2 devices in total to make this work. Anyway if you eed an old school printer port on a more modern computer this will have you covered.

Installed and recognized as LPT3 on Windows 7. Was able to change to LPT1. Hopefully it will work on Windows 10/11 shortly. Main issue driver CD that came in the box appeared to be for a raid and/or storage controller. Was able to find a driver online using the hardware identifier. Used the x-media xm-pex-1p (1-port db25 parallel pcie) v2.0 driver (ch38xdrv.zip).

While older reviews state that this card will work with LinuxCNC, it no longer does. This card registers in Linux as a Serial port and not a Parport which is required for this to work in a non-mesa setup on LinuxCNC. I'm assuming that the chip on the board has been updated which would explain why newer versions no longer register as a parport.To be clear, if your application will work with serial data, then this is the product for you. If you need parport, then this will not work.

I purchased this for a linuxcnc build. I spent hours banging my head against a wall trying to get the darn thing to work. I finally decided to return it and go with another brand to try again, but then I noticed the reason for all my troubles. It was a damaged pci pin! Not sure how it got passed QC as it was very obvious but these things happen. Once I realized this, I arranged a replacement from amazon and when the new one arrived, I put it in the computer and it worked without any issues. For the price, you can't go wrong. Subtracted one star for the poor QC on the first part causing me hours of frustration. Product overall is 5 stars

Does not come with drivers for Windows 10 or 11. I did not find this out until it was to later to return. that was my fault. Should had read the detail information first.

Bought this as an interim solution to connect LinuxCNC to my breakout board.LinuxCNC detected the LPT port and the attached break out board without any issue.

Worked perfectly in a Debian Linux computer. The OS saw the card and installed the correct drivers right away, providing parallel communications without using the LPT1 connection on the motherboard.

worked as expected on a pc without a parallel port.the application i needed it for was a 25 yr old point of sale software.the receipt printer, epson, worked fine except i had to add extra blank lines in the formatting of each receipt else the last ling was cut in half.a usb parallel cord might of worked but went with this instead.fyi my friend has a parallel port security dongle for his point of sale software and it did not work with this pci parallel port adapter

The driver allocated IRQ of 60 and address of 2000 or something in that range. No way to set it to default IRQ and Address for Parallel Port 1. Hardware is great but software driver is lacking.

No problem to use with old printer in Windows 10 Pro.
